I highly recommend this unique property if you are traveling to Avignon or the surrounding area. It’s a surprising garden oasis in the middle of a medieval walled city. The staff was extremely accommodating with dining recommendations and made sure they were available whenever needed. They welcomed us as if we were staying in their very own home. Dorian went above and beyond!

Absolutely fantastic!
This is one of the most wonderful and comfortable places I have ever stayed. The property is beautiful, the rooms are very large (even by US standards), the breakfast was fantastic, but the people were beyond all expectations. Henri, Veldi, Dominique, and Norwin (the folks who manage and run the place) are the most wonderful, welcoming, friendly and kind people you will meet as a traveler. Truly an exceptional visit. There are no downsides. Just fantastic.

After arriving by train we walked up the barren narrow street to a 15 ft medieval door. We pulled a small lever and within a minute someone opened it. We stepped into a literal Oasis. The temperature dropped instantly by about 5 degrees. We were greeted by Dorian…. Who proceeded to welcome us with a drink and tell us about our beautiful home for the next 3 days. We were shown to our suite the “Aphrodite” which had a private large terrace and a small side attached bedroom for our 11 yr old daughter. The air conditioning was sublime as France was in the middle of a heat wave…. temp was 37- 39 degrees. The morning breakfast in the gardens near the refreshing pool was delicious and perfect. The location of the Hotel is 5 min from the Papal palace and everything else in Avignon. I would love to come back here in a heartbeat on our next trip to France. The Divine comedie is one of the best boutique Hotels we have stayed at anywhere in the world

An oasis in central Avignon
Truly an exceptional place. The house and our room (Naples) was like a dream. Even in winter where the outdoor facilities (pool etc) are not usable, there's nothing negative to say. It was worth the expense.

We loved that the property was a quiet oasis from the busy-ness once outside the walls. It was hard to believe this beautiful town of Avignon was right out side the entry doors. The staff was more than accommodating and helpful. We loved the house dog! We will recommend this place to our friends and hope to return someday!

A perfect hotel, a dream
La Divine Comédie is a perfect small luxury boutique hotel. The decoration is incredible and unique. It feels, it is, someone's incredible home that just happens to take guests. Amaury couldn't be more lovely--making sure you know the best restaurants, where you are, the best museums and shopping. Gilles, the co-owner found us wine and cheese at the end of an evening. The garden is a place of perfect tranquil peace--the largest private garden in Avignon with a pool that is a perfect temperature and a bird gazebo with love birds and mourning doves. The breakfast is delicious--the mango melts in your mouth. And on top of everything they have an incredible dog, adorable and perfectly behaved and if you ask Amaury he will introduce you to the two perfectly behaved cats (who stay away from customers) if you have allergies. This is just a perfect hotel. You couldn't ask for anything more.

Wow ! What more can I say. We loved our stay or should I say our experience here. This will be one of those places that we will always remember. La Divine Comedie- 10 stars. Situated in the old part of Avignon , walking distance to everything worthwhile seeing. The hosts Amaury and Gilles welcomed us with open arms. and their dog D'Toule kept us entertained.We do not want to leave!

A quiet, lush and elegant retreat nestled within the heart of Avignon. This is the true definition of a townhome situated within a few feet from the Palais de Papes and within a plethora of Michelin starred restaurants available at your very fingertips. The property is a design oasis, a perfect blend of old and new. Warning: you will not want to part with this property as Aumery, along with his gray home, gray dog and gray cat will lure you into contemplating abandoning your current life in lieu of a permanent stay in one of his and business partner/visionary Gilles romantic suites.

Highly recommend. This is the most beautiful property we have stayed in. Large rooms with lovely decor. Comfortable beds with soft linen. The bathroom is large with a bath and separate shower. Large soft towels. Delicious breakfast. Excellent service. Great location in the old town but in a quiet and peaceful setting. Perfect.

The property is a walled secret garden and beautiful mansion in the city. It is quiet and elegant. The owners are very kind and extremely helpful, dedicated to making sure your every need is met, from booking a tour to restaurant suggestions. They treat you like your concerns are the most important of the day. Though the weather was a little chilly during our March visit, the gardens are a beautiful tranquil place to spend a morning. Amaury is the ultimate host and he and his partner have remodeled this place with perfection. It has the elegance and charm of historical Avignon but with all the modern necessities. It’s perfect. The hosts are perfect.

Truly a dream. If you look at the pictures, you will get an idea of how lovely this special place is, but you must experience it to really understand. No detail is spared. It is evident that thought and care were put into everything, and your hosts will make sure that you feel special and every need fulfilled. The location is incredible - an oasis of calm and beauty right in the heart of the old town very near the pope's old digs. But these might be nicer! Lovely lovely lovely. I had a hard time expressing how much we appreciated the setting and the suite. Thank you so much for a lovely experience!! A big part of travel is seeing new things from a different perspective. La Divine Comedie is the perfect way to see Avignon with fresh eyes.

Paradise in Avignon
The hotel had a beautiful garden which seemed like Eden. We had planned to go out and explore the area, but we changed our minds upon our first glance at the hotel. We stayed in a whole day, relaxing by the pool and admiring the huge trees, other rooms in the hotel and enjoyed a half day in our hotel room, just resting from a long journey. The owner, Amaury was very sweet and helpful in giving us information where needed! Bless his soul! It was a healing period for our bodies and souls while we were there, and I would strongly recommend this to anyone who's looking for an entirely different experience when it comes to accommodations!

A Hidden Gem !!!
This is the prettiest hotel we've stayed in. The paintings, the art deco, the building, the garden....even the dog and cats are very pretty. The host Amaury was sooo nice, he tooks time to help us to settle down, find a right place to eat.... Miss there already, would love to visit again and spend more time there.

良かった点 •部屋は広く清潔 •滞在中のスタッフの対応は親切 悪かった点 個人的嗜好の問題も含むが、同じように感じる方もいるかもしれないので一応記載しておく。 •古い建物だからか近くの部屋の物音が筒抜けで、上の階の足音がダイレクトに響く。とにかく壁が薄い。他の客の状況によっては、静かに過ごすことは叶わない。 •HPの写真ではあまりに個性的なものはのせられていないが、インテリアが過剰で、ともすれば悪趣味に感じた。 •GPS機能では正しく辿り着けない場合があるために通りの名称で道順を示したメールがあらかじめ来たのは良いが、最終的な通りの名前が正確でなく、むしろGoogle mapで正しく導かれた場所からずれて迷うことになった。そしてその際(チェックインの5分前)にメールに記載された通り何度電話をしても留守電で誰も出ず、営業時間外といったアナウンスが流れる。チェックインタイム開始後に折り返しで連絡があり最終的には迎えに来てくれたが連絡を促しながら連絡がつかないのは困った。 •セーフティーボックスの番号が決まっており自分で変えられない。他の部屋とは異なるので大丈夫だと説明されたが、疑問を感じた。 •紹介をされたレストランがいずれも定休日だった。日曜日なので仕方ない部分はあると思うが、あえて、今日は日曜日だが混んでいないか？と確認したが大丈夫だとの返答だった。 後で知ったが、こちらはhotelではなくB &Bと話す人もいて、実際そうだと感じた。hospitality を求める場所ではなく、値段は高すぎると感じた。

Fantastic place to relax and see Avignon!
The name says it all. A divine experience. The host is most attentive, starting from letting you know by email that they are excited to receive you as a guest, and booking you to the best restaurants, and helping you with every little thing you might need. The rooms...the designer rooms are a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!! They owners have also made sure that you will lack nothing while your stay. The garden is immaculate. The whole establishment with the garden is a once in a lifetime experience and everyone who appreciates design will definitely enjoy staying in this hotel. Everywhere you look, you will see something intriguing. We highly recommend. The breakfast could be a little bit more of continental style, but we enjoyed it nevertheless.
