The room was perfect for a one night stay in Athens before an early morning flight. The room was well appointed and very comfortable, albeit it took a bit of fiddling with the window to get the air conditioner to work properly. Communication with Marina was great and the location was perfect for exploring all the best Monastiraki has to offer. The only downside was the lack of soundproofing on the doors (we could regularly hear doors slamming during the late evening and guests talking in the hallways). Otherwise an enjoyable stay and would happy stop by again next time we’re in Athens. Thank you!

Marina was an excellent host! She made some excellent recommendations for our stay in Athens and then in Paros! She also allowed us to store luggage for our trip to Paros and then allowed for early check in on our return!

Although it was tricky trying to navigate with the multiple luggages on a narrow street, hotel has a good vibe once we got in. Marina was very helpful once we got in, got an early check in. Place has an elevator which helps with luggages. Place was clean well-lit and well decorated. AC, fridge and water heater was a huge plus. Conveniently located near restaurant, bars, shops, and about 15-20 minutes walk to the Acropolis. Would book again if Im at the area.

Noisy rooms but great location and breakfast

The location and decor was very very good! Being only minutes away from the metro was very handy. The breakfast was delicious, it’s a shame it started at 8am as had to miss it two days out of three due to tours and early ferries. The rooms were not soundproofed at all! We could hear everything going on in rooms and the corridor, I didn’t get a full nights sleep the whole time I was there due to the noise ( I don’t think people were being exceptionally noisy, it’s just that the walls were so thin!) We also found check in not very easy. The instructions before hand were great but it wasn’t clear where ‘reception’ was at all when we got there and ended up walking around lost in the hotel for a while. If you’re a heavy sleeper or have ear plugs I would have no hesitation in staying, however for the noise alone we wouldn’t recommend

Terrible customer service and unbearable room

No information was provided about late check in. When we arrived, the door was locked, and we were left standing outside in the heat. We eventually got help from other hotel guests to get inside. When we finally received our room, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the circuit breaker kept tripping. The window faced an elevator shaft, so there was no access to fresh air, and it was 39°C in Athens. It was impossible to get in touch with the hotel. No one responded to phone calls or messages, and I still haven’t received any reply to my inquiries. Hotels.com tried to contact the hotel on my behalf, but they refused to offer any compensation. We ended up sleeping with wet towels just to be able to stay in the room. Completely absent customer service and no willingness to resolve the situation.

L’hôtel est bien. Notre chambre était propre et spacieuse. La climatisation fonctionnait bien. L’arrivée était un peu compliquée si on arrive après 16h. Le code d’accès qui nous a été fourni pour entrer ne fonctionnait pas.

It was very hot in Athens for my three day stay. This is my second stay at the Dogpound and I really loved it the first time. The price is right and it is very central. Check in was easy with keys left for us. The rooms are large and comfortable. My only problem is that I feel there was little support or attention when I needed something. For example my air conditioner was working but on the last night I couldn’t get the temperature lower than 26 degrees. I also had to seek out the person to pay for my accomodation.

The staff was very friendly and communicated well. Room wasn’t ready when we arrived but they were prompt about letting us know via WhatsApp. They helped carry our luggage upstairs. The location is awesome! Wish we had more time to spend here. Photos are from across the street.
