The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The location was excellent. The neighborhood looked run down but was very convenient. For the price I highly recommend this hotel. The only downside is you really can’t get picked up in front, you need to walk about a block to get a cab, but really very easy!

Conveniently located near Monastiraki Square/metro/flea market. Requires climbing 2 flights of stairs to get to lobby. Area immediately around property looks questionable but is actually fine. Room was very small but workable for 1. Staff very friendly and helpful.

This property is located right at city center, and close to everything. The room is a bit small, but very clean and cozy. The stall are very helpful and friendly. I will stay there if possible when I visit Athens next time.

The hotel staff were amazing. George D moved us to a quieter room. We appreciated the dining staff! Excellent cleaning staff and excellent front desk staff. We just didn’t like the neighborhood.

Extremely warm welcome from Vassili (immediately given bottled water on arrival) and all staff all so friendly and helpful. Room clean, bright and comfortable. Great breakfast on Terrace. Liked authentic feel of hotel and super location to explore Athens. Even though it is on a main street we were not disturbed. Bathroom on small side but great shower and touches, like dental and shaving kits. Do not be put off by outside of building. If you have mobility issues getting up first set of stairs to reception with luggage may be daunting but help is offered immediately and stair lift available. Lift from ground to all floors is available once you check in. Would highly recommend. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Hotel very close to everything, ideal location. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms quite small but had everything needed, kettle, coffee maker, fridge and all toiletries in bathroom. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great hotel to stay at in Athens, especially for solo travelers. Right in the center of everything as well as close to the Metro. The street might look less than ideal upon arrival, but I found it to be quiet and safe. The actual hotel itself is very nice- clean, comfortable, and secure. The staff were absolutely lovely people. Would definitely stay here again, and for longer!

Don’t know how this hotel gets high review score. It’s the worst ever since we booked with Expedia!! Very bad location, noisy all the time with the traffic, room is very limited and poor not pleasant to stay!

The location was near to the main streets. Hence, everything including the metro, restaurants, bakery, supermarket were easily accessible. The main ruins were also all at walkable distance which made getting around much more convenient. The staffs are very nice and helpful. Overall, we loved our stay at the Athens Market Portrait, definitely made our trip more enjoyable. Definitely recommended!

We absolutely loved our stay! The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful in booking transportation services and answering any questions we had. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of many of the great sites and shopping districts. Our room was so much fun!! Small, but very clean, with two twin beds and a great little balcony that we spent lots of time on in the evening just watching all the people go by and the shops opening and closing. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would definitely stay here again! Thanks to the wonderful staff for making our trip so special!!!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived during a busy time at the New Year and started our week stay in a smaller room. Without us needing to ask the staff moved us to a larger room once other rooms became available. Breakfast was great, good selection both buffet style and for hot options. Rooms were very clean and cleaning staff were lovely and very helpful. The street from the front door of the hotel will immediately lead you to a massive selection of restaurants to eat at within 5 minutes of walking. This isn’t a 5 star hotel. But if you’re looking to see Athens and want a clean, comfortable, welcoming place to stay that is close to all of the sites then Market Portrait is great.

It's in a great location between Monastiraki and Omonia Square. The hotel is small and a little hard to find but this is true of a lot of other hotels in the area. We were warmly welcomed by Reception and given a lot of information about the area. Great breakfast included and a Nespresso machine in the room which was really appreciated! I've stayed at a few hotels in Athens and this one is my new favorite. The bathroom was tiny so if you are a larger person this may not be ideal. There are also stairs to climb to get to Reception area once you enter the hotel. There was a lift at Reception to take you to the room floors. So be aware if you are traveling with heavy luggage.

Will definitely stay here again. Staff was awesome, very accommodating. The included breakfast was delicious! The room was stocked with Nespresso coffee and the free bottle of wine. The area is easily walkable to any of the sights around Athens and very easy to get to (one train ride from the airport and a short walk).

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff in all areas. The location of the hotel is excellent. The closest metro station is Monastriaki which is on the direct line from the airport. Really simple to find. Very comfortable beds.

This hotel is in a great location near the center of Athens! All major sightseeing locations are with a 5-30 minute walk of the hotel, the property is near many bus pickup locations, and there are so many restaurant locations everywhere you walk.

Wonderful stay! The room was clean and had great air conditioning, plentiful hot water, and the staff was so welcoming and helpful (even offered me water and fruit when I left at 5 am to catch an early flight!) Other reviews catagorize the neighbourhood as “sketchy” and I would disagree - it’s a very typical city area. The location is top notch, just a few minutes walk from Monastraki square and station, easy access to restaurants and all that Athens has to offer. When I visit Athens again I’ll be staying here, no question!

The property is in the heart of Athens and it is close to numerous transport links and also close to all amenities you can think of (shopping, food, white goods, markets and much more! The staff is incredibly attentive and very helpful and I am grateful to both George K. (The manager) and George P. (the customer liasion) who made my stay incredibly pleasant and they went out of their way to accommodate me and use hotel facilities and a room without any extra charge after complementing the Athens Marathon. This was completely my oversight in planning but I was incredibly lucky that the team looked after me so well! Thank you!!

This is a great property , only issue was the baggage lift wasn't working when we arrived and we had to haul all our luggage up two sets of stairs to get to check in desk. The best breakfast !
