1920’s Original Kintail Beach Cottage - Beautiful Lake and Sunset Views

This was the first cottage on Kintail Beach built in approximately 1920 of cedar shiplap. It has been recently renovated and furnished but retains its rustic appeal. Enjoy beautiful views of Lake Huron from the screened in porch, have a BBQ, or relax on the beach! The beach is approximately 50 steps down a gravel path from the cottage. With the close proximity to the lake you can hear the waves from inside.

The cottage can accommodate up to 4 people with 1 bedroom (1 Queen Bed) and in the main living area there is a stacking day bed which can either be 2 Twin Beds or 1 King Bed. Currently we do not provide linens, however we do provide blankets and pillows. We ask that you bring your own sheets, towels, tea towels, bath mats. There is 1 bathroom with a shower. There is a small hot water tank for showers and doing dishes. Some essentials will be provided (small hotel sized shampoos, soaps).

There is a 32" TV and DVD/Blue-Ray Player with a small collection of DVD's. A bose speaker with aux input can be used with your devices.
Cozy up by the electric fireplace on chilly evenings (there are space heaters as well, should you need them)

The screened in porch area has a dining table and chairs for 4 and 2 lounge chairs. There are 2 beach chairs for guests to use as well.

We look forward to hosting you!

Charming Cottage - Enjoyable Stay
Nadine and Andrew have done an awesome job renovating this small 1920s cottage at Kintail Beach. They managed to honour the historic background of the cottage and provide modern conveniences at the same time. I stayed solo for the week and it was blissful. I'm retired and in my 60s. I spent all my time on the covered front porch or at the beach. The community was quiet and friendly. The forest around the cottage is magical and listening to the waves 24/7 was lovely. These are my notes that may help make your stay even more enjoyable: * recommend water shoes for the beach. It is rocky. * I opted to use bottled water although the water at the cottage is tested * There is no WIFI and data reception can be spotty but overall was pretty good. * The cottage was very clean and tidy. Good job cleaning woman! * It can be cool in the cottage I think because it is nestled in the forest. Bring at least one set of warm clothes and an extra blanket. There are lots of blankets there but I brought my own. * Bring extra bathing suits. It took a long time for my bathing suits to dry. * The kitchen is well equipped, but no microwave. * The gas station/general store at Amberly (about 10 minutes north on Hwy. 21 has just about everything you might need from Rice Crispies to Firewood to Beer. *Nadine was very good at returning my texts. * The community is made up of a variety of families. There were lots of older people at the beach just chillin' and there were lots of children playing on the beach and in the water. * You have to walk down a dirt hill/road to get to the beach. It was not a problem but be prepared. I really enjoyed my stay and am lookin forward to visiting again next summer!

Lovely little cottage; a classic
We are two adults. The cottage itself is really nice; not overdecorated, but with everything you need. (Although I do not know how a family of four can dry towels or change clothes or keep their stuff in this space; but they do!) Our impression from the listing was that this was on the water, but it is over the road from the path to the beach, so you have to go out to get the views, which are lovely. The pebbled area with chairs (and fire pit, which we did not use) is also lovely; sitting with one's back to the car, truck, and foot traffic (it's also the beach for two camps), one looks into a slope of trees, which were beautiful. It's a nice spot to de-sand on the way in, as well. Eating meals on the screenporch was delightful. However, we found that on the weekend the traffic on this little unpaved dead-end road was a lot and very noisy. Neighbours (or their guests) used an ATV with a trailer to launch their jet-ski from the beach, and two ATVs to bring it back up. This tore the path up so badly that I could no longer get to the beach. Though we had hoped to stay in place for the week, we drove to Kincardine for beaches after that. The sound of the waves is audible all day and night, and that is soothing and beautiful.
