We enjoyed a 2 night stay in one of the newly refurbished bedrooms (Room 5). The room was furnished to a high standard with a modern bathroom and excellent walk-in shower. The staff were uniformly friendly and efficient with a good selection of beers and spirits at the bar. We ate dinner one night and the food was well cooked and of a very good quality. Our only minor ‘gripe’ was being unable to get a drink at the bar after returning from a meal out in Arundel at 9.40pm but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable stay!

What a gem of a place.. great location, great communication, clean comfortable rooms and a brilliant breakfast. We would definitely return and maybe spend longer as it is perfectly situated for exploring the area. We were here for the Goodwood Members Meeting and it was only about 30 minutes drive. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

St Marys Gate Inn looked extremely comfortable, clean and welcoming in the photo's online. Believe me when I say, it is much much more when you arrive. Welcomed by Lola on arrival (we were much earlier than expected) we were shown a table for Sunday lunch straight away (Food is excellent both flavours and presentation). The room was exceptional, huge main area, immaculate bathroom, tea and separate coffee facilities in the room, two huge windows. Bed was very comfortable, just a very relaxing pleasant place to be. Definitely recommended and I would definitely stay there again, hopefully for longer.

Gem of a place

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Warm, friendly, and efficient check-in. Parking. Room very spacious, comfortable, quiet with snart TV. Great pub and the location is perfect. The cooked breakfast, especially the sausage, was delicious.

Late minute break

One night stay in Arundel booked day before. Great location, free off street parking nearby as parking at hotel was full. Rooms separate to Pub which made access very easy. Did not go to breakfast so cannot comment. Lovely stay, everything we needed. Would definitely book again.

Staff were very welcoming. No restaurant available, tv didn’t work in room and toilet didn’t flush well. Four poster bed didn’t have any coverings and looked a bit bald, but comfortable plenty of hot water and tea making facilities all good.

Good location. Friendly staff. Rooms rather tired with broken/repaired bed and wardrobe. Water pressure in shower appalling! (They did have a notice saying that they were looking into this). Good breakfast.

The shower was poor and bathroom a bit shabby and in need of updating. Apology notice on bathroom door saying they had taken the property over only the week before and aware there were issues to be addressed. Very comfortable and peaceful but needed some tlc. Superb location for town and castle gardens.

Weekend away

Friendly and helpful staff but unfortunately we were not told beforehand that the restaurant was shut and although they did make us a cooked breakfast for the Saturday and Sunday morning the pub itself is shut all day Monday so no breakfast was provided. The room was cold when we arrived and we had to ask for the heated towel rail to be turned on in the en suite. The room was in need of a bit of TLC and were given the impression that this would be done later in the year. The bed was comfortable though and the shower was good. Ideal location for exploring Arundel and nice to be slightly out of the high street.

I would stay here again.

Pros: Location, price, excellent breakfast, quiet and all great. It was also dog friendly. I had room 1, with a queen 4 poster bed. Free parking was right outside the door. It was a hot summer and there is no air conditioning, the windows open a few inches only, but we were able to borrow a tower fan. Con’s: Bathroom was a little awkward, with no place to put on my make up or toiletries bag at the sink. Tiny shower stall (I’m 5’4”, 110 lbs). No outlets in the bathroom. No table outside the bathroom near the large mirror to put hair dryer or makeup either. Flat pillows and rather scratchy comforter cover.
