Studio Apartment in cultural Amsterdam

These quiet situated Studios combine the comforts of home with a great location on the edge of the old city center. The Studios have their own private bathroom with shower, 2 excellent beds, WiFi and a TV/DVD/CDR-set to make your stay comfortable. Bed- and bath linen is included.
The Red Studio and Yellow Studio can accommodate 2 persons each.
The 'Studio formula' means self-catering, there is a coffee and tea, maker and a magnetron oven facility.
The Studios are on the 3rd floor, so you'll have to climb stairs. You'll have your own key to your Studio and the front door.
Reservations for weekends can be made only 3 weeks before the reservation date.

LOCATION IN THE CITY:
CULTURE
Nearby there are the beautiful 17th-century canals with their stately houses. In the museum quarter, you'll find the famous Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk- and Van Gogh museum as well as the Spiegel-quarter with its many antique shops. All are within walking distance.

SHOPPING
Deli's, supermarket, shops for daily needs, restaurants, and bars are just around the corner. A few hundred meters further on will bring you to the most exclusive shopping street in the city. A longer walk or a short tram ride takes you to the city's busy shopping center, with its large department stores, or the many markets, including the Flower market.

ENTERTAINMENT
The apartments are situated near the famous Leidseplein with its unique bars, grand cafes, restaurants, cinemas, clubs, concert halls, discos, and several theaters. The location provides entertainment for everyone.

LEISURE TIME
The Vondelpark is a stone's throw away for walking, in-line skating, biking or jogging. There are also several popular terraces to have a drink or lunch near one of the Dutch TV Studios. In summer there is a free open-air theater with concerts, dance programs, and theater. Boat- and bicycle rentals are close by.

Great of you are a mountain goat!
Treacherous stairs Basically it is an attic Not enough electrical outlets Fan was functional but didn’t move air. Room was 90 degrees Tiny freezer above frig was clogged with ice making it almost useless to make ice cubes Arms on chairs sticky Bathroom floor is extremely slippery tile Hosts did help with bags up and down stairs. Clean and well located Not good for seniors or anyone who can’t climb 3 flights of very narrow, steep, shallow straight up stairs.

Super cute studio in a great and convenient part of town.
Loved my couple days in the studio. Walkable to all the hot spots in the city but removed enough to be quiet and safe. Studio was very clean and had everything I needed for quick meals at home. Would highly recommend!

First Trip to Amsterdam
My husband and I stayed in the apartment for three nights. Edwin and Karin thought of everything from maps and recommendations to coffee and stroopwaffles! The bed is cozy and the space was clean. The stairs are typical for the area, and it’s up 3 flights, so I’m glad we only had our backpacks. The first night was very warm, as the temps hit 30 that day, but there was a fan which made it tolerable. The weather cooled off considerably the next day and we were quite comfortable.

We really loved our stay. Walking distance to the museum quarter, parks, dinning and shopping. The loft is on the third floor through a skinny staircase, if you have no issues with stairs it’s worth staying there. Our host were very welcoming and told us about the city history.

Idyllic studio apartment close to everything
We absolutely loved our stay here. Edwin and Karin were so kind and sweet, and the property itself was very clean and so cute. It was so easy to reach multiple public transit stops in the area for short bus or tram rides to museums and other points of interest. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely stay here again.

Amazing location and hosts
The location was close to everything but surprisingly quiet for being in the city. The hosts were amazing and gave me a ton of information about Amsterdam and what was nearby. It is a 3 story walk up with very steep/narrow stairs (which seem common in Amsterdam) so I would not recommend if you have a lot of large/heavy luggage. The beds had an adjustable base and were comfortable, which helped with sleep quality. I would stay there again in the future.

Excellent location, accommodating host, everything you need in the neighborhood!
John and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Erwin and Karin. Our space was comfortable, everything you could possibly need if you were to actually cook. Bed, adjustable and comfortable. Stairs up to the apartment are 3 levels and are very steep and difficult if you have knee issues or breathing/heart issues. You have to keep in mind that you have to carry your luggage. We are in our 60's and we managed. All in all I would give Erwin and Karin 10/10! Amsterdam is awesome!

Edwin and karan's studio was perfect for our short stay. We really appreciated the hospitality and advice that the host gave us. It was in a great location with in walking distance to public transport. The studio was a great size, immaculately clean with very comfortable beds. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

The apartment is exactly as described in the listing. There were lots of nice small touches that made our stay nicer than expected (guides, coffee, maps). The stairs are very typical Amsterdam which is how they are advertised in the listing! We enjoyed our stay in the apartment and could walk to everything of interest!

A Gem
This studio was wonderful. Located in a quiet part of Amsterdam and just a few minutes walk into the center of town. Access to public transportation is a few feet away and plenty of restaurants nearby. This studio is great for a couple or solo traveler. Comfortable and cozy. Hope to stay here again when we return in a couple years. Edwin and Karin are wonderful hosts and communication was excellent leading up to our stay. Can thank them enough for making this trip absolutely fantastic.

We loved staying at this apartment. It was on a small side street in a lovely area close walk to the museums and park. It is also a quick 15-20 minute walk to the center of town! Edwin was a wonderful host.

The hype is real – this flat is truly a gem! Centrally located and incredibly comfortable, this lovely apartment was the perfect place to regroup and relax after a long day on the town. We especially noticed and appreciated how thoughtful the hosts were at stocking the apartment with just about anything you could possibly need — from umbrellas, to covid tests, maps and lists of recommended restaurants, even a bottle of wine in the fridge! — to make our stay easy and enjoyable. As other reviews have mentioned, the stairs are quite steep (we may have broke a sweat getting our bags up to the room 😅) but don’t let that dissuade you from staying here. It truly was wonderful, and an incredible value! I’d stay here again in a heartbeat, and am looking forward to booking another stay the next time I am in Amsterdam.

Wonderful Studio apartment, outstanding location!
We had a wonderful stay at Edwin and Karin’s studio apartment. The location can’t be beat! We walked the entirety of central Amsterdam, seeing many museums, beautiful canal streets, and historical sights. The apartment is well appointed and as described. Beautiful view out the window. Was very quiet for being in such a busy area. Would love to stay here again!

Perfect in every way!
Studio Apartment Palamedes is a gem! Edwin and Karin have created a wonderful homey space. The thoughtful attention to little things—fresh flowers, welcoming items in the fridge, detailed info on the neighborhood, and even a discount card for the market—make the studio a standout. The location is ideal—walking distance to museums and tram stops—and the Oud-West neighborhood is full of less-touristed shops and restaurants. As others have mentioned, you do have to be comfortable with steep Dutch stairs, but it’s worth the effort!

Perfectly Dutch!
This was a very typical dutch home, up three steep and narrow flights of stairs. It was just exactly what I had hoped, but if you have trouble climbing stairs, you might not do well here. The location was very handy to all the major sites, and to the tram stops. We would stay here again. (The original posting mentioned cooking and laundry facilities, but the laundry facilities were not available anymore. It was explained after we booked, and we decided to stay anyway.)
