I won't be available in person, but feel free to contact me with any questions. Also my Wheelwrights team are on hand throughout your stay, from our office in Elterwater, should you need anything.
The heart of the village is just a short stroll away. In the village you can find the well stocked local convenience store -the Langdale Coop, Brambles Cafe, and the Village Church – The Great Langdale Holy Trinity, and The Wainwrights Inn which sells local brewed ales and provides good homemade food. The famous climbers inn The Old Dungeon Ghyll, New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, and Stickle Barn Tavern (now owned by the National Trust) are just up the Langdale Valley.
The property is on a main bus route which regularly runs between Ambleside and Great Langdale. Elterwater, the famous Britannia Inn and Elterwater Cafe are a short stroll away, with a fabulous walk along the river. The cottage is also handily placed to access the Langdale Valley, 4 miles from Ambleside and close to neighbouring villages of Grasmere and Hawkshead. Pets - allowed

Wonderful large house with stunning extensive gardens - all safely enclosed for an energetic puppy. The views from the house are breathtaking. Location of property provides the perfect base for visiting many of the Lakes' special places: Boat cruise from Ambleside across Lake Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick and local walks through Chapel Stile to Elterwater. Handy village shop and pub although no dogs allowed in the Bramble Cafe. Parking and access from the road to the property was tricky and tight - no more than 2 cars. Table-tennis facility in garage was a bonus (particularly on a wet day.)
Thank you for sharing a slice of Lake District tranquility and providing us with sunshine too - real food for the soul!
I would highly recommend staying at Thrang Close.
Thrang Close had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The house was well equipped (esp. the kitchen) and the beds and bedrooms were wonderful. The downstairs areas weren't very clean on our arrival, and there was a strong smell of damp soot in the lounge that needed airing out, but the bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless, and the garden and outdoor spaces were magnificent. We were there when the azaleas and rhododendrons were at their peak. Just lovely.
The lounge is very small and only suitable for groups of four, but the dining room can comfortably seat 8. I spent a lot of time in the little sun room, with its incredible views up the valley to the Langdale Pikes. There are lots of walks nearby requiring little car travel.
Getting in and out of the gated driveway takes some planning to do it safely. While there's plenty of space to park multiple cars, the angle of the driveway in relation to the gate makes it a bit tricky. The space is best suited for small cars.
All in all, we had a very happy week in Thrang Close and liked having it as our 'home base' while we explored the area.
