"Long overdue review, my wife and I stayed at Hotel Nikko in Osaka in April and everything about the hotel exceeded our expectations. We booked the superior twin room w/pros/cons details below; Pros - The superior twin was renovated in 2016 so everything felt relatively modern, and very clean with daily room cleaning if you choose. - Plenty of room for 2ppl luggage. We each had 1 carry-on, 1 backpack, and 1 large check-in luggage. Lots of room to place your luggage unlike some other hotels we've stayed at in the past in Japan - Location! There is not one, not two, but three food courts essentially attached to the hotel - very easy to grab a bite, and everything we tried was amazing. The hotel is also right in the center of Shinsaibashi w/endless shopping options, and easy walking distance to Dontonburi. - Transportation - the hotel is on top of a subway station, thus extremely convenient to get around, not just Osaka, but for taking day trips to places like Kyoto and Nara. Cons - This is frankly a nit, the door to the in-room safe didn't close properly until we figured out that you had to line up the magnets for it to close. - Another nit, if you came to Japan to watch TV in the hotel, then this may be an issue, as there are limited channels vs. other hotels we've stayed at, as far as I can tell, no access to streaming services like YouTube or Netflix on the in-room TV, and less variety of channels."

"We had a great stay at this hotel! The 3-person room was small yet spacious and is perfect for a family of 3 adults. The location is also nice - it's just a short walk from the JR station and there's a massive supermarket nearby (think Super Target or even bigger!), plus a convenience store right next door for any last-minute needs. They also have a public bath house on-site if you're interested in that. The staff were incredibly friendly and the check-in and check-out process was a breeze. When we left, it was pouring rain and the staff, to my surprise, let us borrow an umbrella for our trip to the airport, which was incredibly kind and thoughtful. A few things to note: many amenities are located on the ground floor in the lobby by the elevators instead of in the room and there's no airport shuttle. There's free coffee in the morning, but you can't make your own in the room. Also, the metro station access is above ground, so I suggest going up the stairs early to avoid all the traffic lights (no ground floor entrance at the intersection). Overall, I can easily recommend this hotel. The area is vibrant and well-connected, making it a great place for catching flights or resting after a late arrival."
