Abingdon-on-Thames is a historic town situated in rural Oxfordshire, where the river Thames meets the River Ock.
The town thrives on its independence and has everything on your doorstep that you could wish for including small shops, cafés, restaurants, offering a choice of foods from around the world, and many excellent pubs. The town’s marketplace hosts weekly Monday markets, monthly farmers’ markets and quarterly local food and craft markets.
There are beautiful riverside walks to be enjoyed along the Thames just a few yards away from the property, lovely architecture to be admired, historical treasures, parks and gardens, and a choice of leisure facilities including boating, swimming, and fishing. The university city of Oxford is within 8 miles which you can catch the regular local bus to within a short walk from the property, and has many attractions to include the Bodleian Library, punting along the river, an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafés and bars and great shopping at the Westfield shopping centre.
There are Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in every direction, including the Berkshire Downs, The Cotswolds, and The Chilterns. You can spend time meandering through country roads, admiring the beautiful scenery, walking, and cycling and stopping off at country pubs along the way. Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, is 16 miles and hosts many events throughout the year. For shopaholics, no trip to this area would be complete without a trip to Bicester shopping village, with numerous designer outlet shops within a 30-minute drive. The nearest train station is in Didcot with regular trains to London.

Great location, just minutes away from the river and the town centre.
Great location, just minutes away from the river and the town centre. The apartment is well equipped with everything that you could need. The chaise longue in the bedroom is ideal for an afternoon nap, or lazily reading a book. The town is a delight with history, good shops and restaurants and markets on Monday and Friday. One of those places that makes you consider returning.

Hive Mews has a lot of character, grade 2 listed, & in the middle of Abingdon, an historic town. Inside the property has modern features. The bedroom & living room are spacious & comfortable. The heating is provided by old-style storage heaters, not all of which seem to be working. It’s not the most responsive type of heating as it stores heat overnight to release the next day. It might be useful to have written instructions for the heating and kitchen appliances.Parking is shared with other properties & is tight to reverse round in once you enter the courtyard, but achievable.Shopping is very handy & there is lots to do & see within walking distance. The owner is very responsive & helpful to any queries or issues.
