"It was a very last minute request so the room was a “universal design” one next to the front desk. Naturally it was very noisy in the check-in / check-out peak hours. Other than that, the room was spacious, cosy, clean and reasonably priced. The environment was perfect too - although I used to live in the city over a decade, I’ve never found this area so attractive. A hidden gem in fact. I’ll def use it again by booking one well in advance! "

"Very cool to stay in the old cells and a great location in the centre of the city. Booked parking in advance as it’s limited but worked out well. Only minor negative was the inability to open any windows in the room, but it was a prison so…"

"Lovely hotel and we have a wonderful time on our 55the wedding anniversary. The food in the restaurant was fabulous. My only gripe was the only place you could watch tv was on the bed. Would have preferred watching it from the chairs. Loved the stairs - so beautiful. "
