I cannot say enough great things about this hotel - location was fantastic, staff were friendly and very helpful, rooms were clean and updated, pool area is beautiful...wonderful experience here - would recommend to anyone travelling to San Diego and will definitely stay here again. Great location for a family - we walked to the Gaslamp Quarter quite easily (with an infant!), it is right across the street from shops and restaurants at the Seaport Village and The Headquarters and also very close to a large grocery store "Ralph's". Also within walking distance to the Coronado ferry, USS Mission museum, and located right across the street from the trolley station. Ordered room service one night, it was great (pizza, beet salad, salsa and guacamole). Great view from our corner King room on the 20th floor, Seaport tower.
Only tip for those travelling with infants - bring along your own travel crib as the one supplied by the hotel seemed very uncomfortable as the mattress was very uneven - you could feel the end of each wooden board, our little one did not do very well in it and ended up sleeping with us. If you must use the hotel one, definitely bring your own sheets as they didn't have one that fit the pack and play and just used a large sheet folded up a few times (definite safety concern!)
"Beautiful setting, wonderful staff, great overall"
We stayed 4 days on Mission Beach and had a wonderful time. We needed to stay an extra night, so read the reviews on this hotel and it met all our expectations and even exceeded them. The setting on this marina is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We also enjoyed eating dinner at the restaurant on site which overlooked the marina. Food was excellent. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be that the rooms are quite small, but we didn't spend much time in our room and it was very clean. Thanks for a great stay!
We had a great time at Humphrey's with our family of 5. We would recommend it to families and couples for sure. Next time we will definitely try to get tickets to a show. The front desk staff were super helpful with regards to information about all things San Diego. Which is a fantastic city to visit.
San Diego is one of my favorite cities and I'm always happy when I get a chance to go. Usually stay at a Marriott or Starwood Hotel (W, US Grant) but this time they were way too expensive. So when I got a great price on The Keating Hotel and saw the positive reviews I figured I'd try it. I was very pleased with the room. Different from the hotel chains and had kind of an industrial studio look and feel. It was very large and comfortable with great amenities. You don't see Bang & Olafsen components in many hotel rooms. The bed was really nice and I slept well there. My only complaint with the room is the shower is one of those types with an open half wall of glass - I just prefer one with a door you can close so cool air stays out. Otherwise it was fine. Also the shower and sinks are open to the entire room which is unusual. There is a curtain you can pull in front to separate that area from the rest of the room if you want.
There staff was great - really friendly and professional. Appreciated that they called a cab for me when I checked out! I would be quite happy to stay at The Keating again and hope I will!
We had a great stay at The Dana on Mission Bay. It was very close to Sea World with a shuttle bus provided but also easy walking distance (which we did at the end of the day). We had a room overlooking the marina which was lovely & also nice to spot a seal or two swimming around. The kids (9 & 11) loved the pool and the pool staff were particularly friendly, taking orders for drinks/lunch throughout the day. The waitresses at Firefly Restaurant were very friendly and professional and the food delicious. The breakfast at The Blue Pearl was average & we were asked to wait 10 minutes while a table was cleared for us only to find that there were at least 10 spare tables. The wait on all 3 mornings was too long. All in all we had a very enjoyable time at The Dana & we would stay there.again.
