Östersund does not boast many hotels, so don't turn up on the off-chance they have a room free or try for a lst-minute internet booking. We stayed at the same time as a motor race and a fishing competition were happening. A lady who tried to get a room when we had just booked in was told that there wasn't a room anywhere in town (and she had driven from Norway!). This hotel is fine for a short stay. The restaurant was out in the yard for the Summer months and the range of food was not great, but the restaurants around town are mostly ridiculously expensive. Östersund having been awarded some sort of culinary award a year or so ago, the restaurants apparently think they can charge anything they like and people will pay.

A very pleasant stay. Staff at the hotel were very friendly. The food at breakfast was great although it was a bit of a scrum to get the food. (We were staying during Swedish school holidays). The room was very comfortable although a bit tired with lots of marks on the wall where furniture and I assume luggage had knocked against the wall. There were no glasses/cups in the bathroom although oddly a cup holder and a bottle opener. Would be happy to go back. We visited Jamtli while we were there, an outdoor folk museum which was very interesting and had lots to do for children and adults alike. Your tickets are valid for two days; you just have to ask and you can come back a second day.
