"The neighborhoos combines charm and convenience"
We stayed in an apartment with a balcony, which not only expanded the living space, but offered a welcome respite overlooking quiet gardens. The kitchen was fully equipped and stocked well. Short walking distance to the major museums of the city, and a charming neighborhood of restaurants, cafés and shopping.

"Wonderful small hotel."
This is a splendid small hotel a block away from the museum district, and close to all trams and buses. Also, only one block away is a shopping district that rivals and exceeds Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. One block away in the other direction is the museumpleine, where three major museums await. Owned and managed by a family that take pride in its work. The hotel is immaculate and operated with the kind of care that reflects a desire to provide the best to its customers. Roel and the rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The Dutch are splendid people with warm and open hearts for all. When we return to this beautiful city, we will definitely stay at Hotel Fita and look forward to the occasion.

"Enjoyed to stay in this apartment"
Everything was great. I would recommend to everyone this apartment, but if you haven't a lot baggage, because top floor and difficult to climb up the stairs.

"Caring and Competent Staff"
JL 76 is a smallish boutique hotel that is staffed by incredible people. I travel a fair amount and have never experienced the care that is consistently practiced here. Andre, at the desk, was so thoughtful and knowledgeable in giving savvy traveling suggestions. Other staff members (David, Thomas, and Thriska [sp?] ) went beyond basic expectations to meet our needs appropriately and with such positive attitudes and pleasant demeanor.

"Good quality small hotel near museums."
We came with another couple and stayed 3 nights. We got the train from the airport and then took a taxi to the hotel. When leaving we took the advice of the hotel receptionist and caught the 197 airport bus which stopped 5 mins from hotel, costing 5 euros each and taking 35 mins - a great option. The hotel is like a converted house on the corner of the street and does have some narrow & steep stairs although there is a lift if you need it. There is a small lounge downstairs used for breakfasts. We were offered eggs and bacon as well as the usual croissants, breads, fruit, cereals etc. Good service, making a pleasant start to the day. Our lovely room was on the corner and had a great window seat with views over the canal. The bed was large, the shower was invigorating and overall it was very comfortable. We discovered two nearby cafe/restaurants called Cafe Touissant and De Italien which turned out to be run separately by a friendly guy and his girlfriend. We enjoyed our meals in both places. Amsterdam was fantastic - so many things to do and well worth another visit. We particularly enjoyed the Van Gogh Museum and the Amsterdam Museum and recommend using the audio-guides. We also enjoyed the Anne Frank House (pre-book if possible), a canal cruise (75 mins), The Rijksmuseum (especially Late Rembrandt exhib.), a walk through Vondelpark (accompanied by cyclists and runners galore) and finally the Hidden Church in the Attic (fascinating).

"Great hotel- near to most of the great attractions"
We loved it here. Friendly staff who are happy to help with anything you ask of them - they sell tickets for many tourist attractions which obviously saves time. If you ask they will happily look up the weather forecast, times of buses, opening times of attractions etc etc. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. It is so easy to reach the other squares and the square they are in - Leidseplein- is a wonderfully busy 'happening' square, full of life and energy. The food was great. Although the rooms are fairly small it's not really a problem as it's just the place you sleep!! they are clean and light and airy.

"Great!"
My husband and I traveled to Amsterdam for one night for a gig at the nearby Paradiso. This hotel is a 40 minute bus ride from the airport, in a central location; museums and historic canal areas are nearby. The only drawback to the building is steep staircases; but we didn't mind. Our room was very spacious and pleasant, well furnished, clean, with a modern bathroom and shower; at the top of the building, it had exposed roof beams--cool to stay in an old building that was renovated well. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and room heated up quickly. An ample cold breadfast with fresh bread and croissants was provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the price was reasonable. We would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it warmly.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Museum Quarter Independent Hotels

Home to Amsterdam’s big three museums, the Museum Quarter includes the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk. The former is the huge national art collection. The Stedelijk is largely cutting-edge post-1945 art. The Van Gogh is home to 200 of the artist’s paintings. Nearby Leidseplein is the centre of Amsterdam’s more raucous nightlife, with famous clubs such as Paradiso and Melkweg. By day, visit the Art Deco Café Americain.
