I traveled with my two children earlier this week for March break. We were looking forward to a convenient location and on site parking, as well as a comfortable living space where we could rest swim and eat between outings.
When we arrived, we were informed that the parking around back was full and we’d have to park across the road in a public lot (for $25 plus tax a night, I may add). This was unsettling as it was open access and underground, and I was traveling alone with my children. My concern was dismissed.
In addition, the hotel and unit were not clean and very dated. I had to clean up hair and a spill in the kitchen from a previous guest. We did not even bother to see the pool as I was not confident it would be clean, but I cannot speak to this confidently. I couldn’t sleep due to the uncomfortable temperature on the 16th floor, and opening the window was helpful for a breeze but it was very loud with street traffic and sirens.
The hotel staff were understanding of our concerns and accommodated my requests to a point (ie we switched rooms initially due to cleanliness).
The next morning, we checked out early as I was very unsettled. On route to get our car; my worst fears were realized as we were followed to our car (from underground, someone was waiting in the underground parking but out of sight from entry point). I had to hastily help my children in the vehicle, throw our belongings in, and leave the garage. It was a horrifying experience.
