Horrible! DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL
Hotel staff is rude, incompetent and clueless as to the layout of their own hotel. The hotel is old and while close to the airport NOT WORTH THE STAY! You can for 4 dollars get a bus ride to the airport and it comes every 15-20 mins. It's like a 70's rec room that just feels sleazy. I did not read the reviews and I really should have. I just booked it for the cheap price and since it was our last day, I did not expect it to be so *expletive* awful. Giving them a 0 was not an option.
Neighbourhood recommendations: NOT the Thistle hotel. Stay in London and just take the tube to the airport.
customer is not priority.....
the only reason we stayed at this hotel was due to a halloween convention that was held in the hotel. we tried to order room service and the phone was completely ignored....ended up having to walk downstairs and order it in person.....there is a mcdonalds in walking distance that would have provided better food and service...we ate there for breakfast the next day - great coffee.....once the convention ended we still had a few days left to try and enjoy london but after the substandard service we opted to change to a hotel more convenient to the city....the staff was not helpful when it came to requesting a cab for our journey...they called a private cab company that over charged us....looked like they had their number on speed dial - when the cab arrived i was upset at what they had done but since my partner was severely ill i paid the extra money to keep us from waiting for another cab....lesson learned...will not stay here again even if there is another convention there....the inconvenience outweighed the convenience
Taxi scam: make sure you ask for a public taxi so that you can avoid being scammed
need of help
hotel bathroom was a complete disaster. toilet angled into the wall? shower stall mold everywhere. sign read "close door or fire alarm will sound" and they couldn't change any currency?
