We really enjoyed our 12 day stay here at the Azul Ixtapa Grand. The staff are amazing and really made the trip. The a la carte restaurants are all excellent here as well as next door at the sister property. The buffet for breakfast/lunch was the only weak amenity here as it was inconsistent at times and the atmosphere lacking.
We had a great time again after our last stay about 10 years ago. Nice and small enough to always find a place by the pool or on the beach. Also like the fact that they offered just breakfast and unlimited drink inclusive. We like to try the other restaurants in town so it worked out great. It was full the first couple of days and we had garden view (mountains) room but as soon as ocean side room opened they moved us with no additional charge. We opened window just enough to hear the sound of the surf all night. Beautiful stay and great staff at hotel.
This has our 3rd trip back to Ixtapa and staying at the Park Royal. The Staff, the hotel, the pools, the beach, everything is very nice, over-maintained (extremely clean and fresh), and would and have recommended to everyone. Ixtapa is a very SAFE area to explore. At No Time have we felt in any danger. We have been over to Z-waat several times as well, and same feeling (during the day, have never been there past dark).
The Tesoro, is located on the beach in the middle of the bay perfect for your morning walk. Close to restaurants, shops, banks, flee market, buses or cabs. Hotel staff are like family (most are bilingual) all go out of their way to help with your every need. We have never been treated better at any hotel we have ever stayed at and this is why we keep going back; we will be back again next year we love it here. Pool is amazing lots of chairs, umbrellas with entertainment for those that want it. Pool service is great. Lots of mexican familys on the weekends and during the week you have the pool & hotel to yourself. Food is excellant if you like mexican food. Some of the rooms look a little tired but spottless, they are doing some remodeling. Would advise a fishing trip, best fishing ever and affordable at Zihutanejo Marina. (Ocean is calm)
During my stay, this resort hotel was used to house 350 members of the Federal Police. I spent 8 days surrounded by police in full uniforms packing 12 gauge shotguns and fully automatic rifles. Depending on which hotel staff person I talked with...they were there for either 1 month, or 3. As the members of the police force were not permitted to use the pool or waterpark while on assignment, the hotel shut down the waterpark and poolside bar. The restaurant shut down normal service and provided only a bare-bones buffet tailored to the police force.
In addition to that...the room was dirty, all but 1 electrical outlet was busted, the airconditional was grossly inadequate. All in all...terrible.
