"Great location, crappy everything else."
Day 1 we were treated ok, day 2-3 the owner quickly became rude, short, and unhelpful. Breakfast was horrible. He drank expresso while he served us Mr. Coffee which set out the entire time we were there. He would allow his wet dog to sit on the couch, but you couldn't rest your feet on the coffee table. He wanted you to love his dog, but he would yell at you if you played fetch with it. The power went out. There is no wi-Fi in the room. There is a chain smoker who Lives there. The Italian breakfast is cheese and ham, but he stepped it down with craft singles and bologna.

"Overlooks Lake como"
A Family run hotel that looks over the lake, the food was good, breakfast was typical continental, but the evening meal was a delight, but closed Tuesdays. The hotel was only a few yards from the ferry terminal and ferries ran fairly frequently around the lake. One tip I was given, having hired a car from Milan, was to take the ferry to Bellagio and go to Milan from there. A much better journey than coming from Como

"Perfect spot for us."
Villa Aurora is situated on the main road in the small town of Lezzeno near Belegio. Our room was across the road from the water. We had a view of the lake and comfortable quarters, the bathroom small but very adequate. There is no elevator so we carried our bags up to the third floor, I'm sure the staff would have helped if asked, but I needed the exercise! Speaking of the staff, they were all very warm and accommodating. The folks at the reception were very helpful with suggestions and directions, bus tickets etc.. The restaurant across the street is excellent, great views of the lake and there is access from ther to a great deck directly on the water. We found the service and the food at the restaurant to be fabulous. This is a great place to"chill" and be away from the crowds! They do have water sport activities available that looked fun that we did not take advantage of, perhaps next trip!

"Private and nice. An unexpected treat."
One of the nicest places we have stayed in Italy. Very close to the Swiss border and the town of Lugano. Facilities were excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. The grounds were manicured. The spa and the indoor pool were excellent. Outdoor pools were "open" but not heated so too cold to try them. The breakfast was more than the common fare found at the usual European hotels. In fact, the breakfast and the dining rooms were one of the highlights. Room was really a villa with large living area, separate bedroom, dining area and kitchen complete with all the pots, pans, plates and utensils needed to cook a large Italian meal (including strainers, serving bowls, cork screws and different size wine glasses. The town of Porlezza has four grocery stores in or around the area so we cooked most of our meals. We did not try the Resort's restaurant. And there were also many smaller and unique restaurants to explore along the coast highway. Fitness area overlooks Lake Lugano, as did the balcony of our room. This Resort is highly recommended, even for a small family as there are many separate supervised activities for children. One heads up: It is not really close to Malpensa. It took 3 hours plus to get there along SS340, which can be a one lane road, behind buses at times. The road follows Lake Como, then makes a sharp left thru some tunnels towards Lake Lugano, where the Resort is located. We left for Malpensa on a Sunday very early in the morning and made it there within 2 hours

"Fabulous panoramic views with warm hospitality."
Family owned, warm and friendly. The hotel is gorgeous and one feels especially good in a place where they have provided such luxurious rooms and restaurant. The views are breathtaking. Angela was fantastic and her English is excellent. Stephanie, the server was wonderful, too. The entire family and wait staff were excellent. We highly recommend this hotel. We did not have a car and had to take a bus or taxi to neighboring areas that offered more stores and entertainment. At the end of the day where tourists are all about, it was nice to escape to this wonderful hotel, Sole.
