I attended a conference in National Harbor, Md but my wife and I preferred to stay in Old Town because we love King St. and my wife could also use the metro from there for sightseeing. We've stayed at other Kimpton Hotels and this one measured up with excellence all around. Friendly staff, clean, and tastefully decorated. Coffee and Hot Chocolate on the weekend were a hit. La Madeleine next door to the hotel was a great breakfast spot. We also enjoyed Chadwick's for dinner- a short walk down to the water.
Everything at the hotel was wonderful - above expectations. If someone would ask me about staying, I would definitely mention that in addition to the cost of the room, they have to pay to park. I realize it's Alexandria, but I think it's ridiculous to have to pay to park at a hotel that you're already paying to stay in. I'll never do it again.
The food I had in that Restaurant was awful. It was so overcooked that I couldn't even get a knife through it.
But the hotel and accommodations and staff were top notch.
I am very familiar with the hotel....worked close by for 18 years. The location was very good for me. Price was good. Desk clerk was very professional. Room was clean...bed was solid....TV was large and well located. Excellent experience.
