The Santa Justa is in an old building at the heart of the Baixa, which makes it equidistant from the Barrio Alto and the Alfama.........a short but stiff climb to both if you are on foot. Inside the hotel is modern and pleasingly designed....not too functional but not over the top. Staff amazingly helpful and friendly; free wi-fi and free mini-bar plus welcoming bottle of port are a nice touch. Can't really fault it. Didn't eat there, and the restaurants in the nearby Baixa streets aren't up too much.
I enjoyed my stay as I was in a double room with a single occupant, if my wife had been with me the room would have been too small. There was no room to sit down other than on the bed
I enjoyed the different elements in the hotel however the lasting impression is one of confusion . The interior designer had been gives too much reign
Returned yesterday from a one week solo stay at this hotel and do not hesitate to recommend it. Perfectly situated for walking the city, the shopping district, accessing the [Rossio] metro (direct line to Sintra - a day well spent) and a short stroll to the Bairro Alto nightlife. Restaurants, bakeries and cafes line the streets. The staff was friendly and helpful. Delightful rooftop seating area with a nice view of the city, river and Castelo Sai Jorge. Great spot for enjoying morning coffee. The rooms are modern (in design and decoration), clean and mine was very quiet.
Our apartment was at the heart of Baixa. Its a block from the metro and walking distance to major landmarks. Lot's of cafes, restaurants and shops in the area. Apartment was fresh, roomy, bright and quiet. We liked that it was recently refurbished; kitchen was modern with new appliances. It felt like home away from home.
