"We enjoyed staying at the Mar Inn. Christine at the front desk showed us the map of the city and guided us to a couple of very good restaurants. Breakfast was very good as well. Close to the cloud forest and a Sloth sanctuary. Tip, park at the parking lot that says Offical Parking & take the shuttle, there is really no parking at the park entrance. "

However, take into consideration that the property is a 3-hour drive from the airport and the hotel does not provide transportation (costs an additional $USD200 for private transportation from the airport). "Tía welcomed us with a big smile and juice. Our room was super clean, as was the shared bathroom. We saw her work from sunrise to sunset. Great breakfast and excellent coffee. She was the highlight of our stay because she was so amazing. We had to leave super early in the morning and she brought us bananas, cookies, and juice for the road. Please give her a raise and bonus because she is the kindest, hardworking soul. We plan to return because of her! She made our stay feel like home. "

"This is a perfect property for travelers needing access to the San Jose Airport and many car rental companies. The property is gated, with street parking in front of the facility. The open kitchen allows guest access to use of fridge, microwave, coffee and water and eating area. Rooms are spacious, beds comfortable with spacious bathrooms. No AC but ceiling fan in room. Note that this is a CASH only facility which caught me by surprise. The host was also gracious to allow us to drop luggage...

"If I could, I would have stayed longer in this establishment. The pictures and description does not do justice to this amazing place. The rooms are old but in reasonable state, and they are clean. The breakfast is good and with a perfect view over the garden. The garden is the best thing about the place. The property is actually like an island with a small old metal bridge and it is full of mutiple species of Heliconia and also a nice untouched forest for small walk and discovery. We saw both...

"Very beautiful property, very comfortable beds. it is a bit out of the way so you either have to drive to access food and shopping, or are you have to be willing to walk a lot! Although it was called a B&B on the website, there was no breakfast included. That was surprising and disappointing That is my only criticism. Otherwise, it was lovely."

Nice cabin, not in La Fortuna itself...
"The cabin was in a pretty location on the side of a small lake — but the location doesn't match that on VRBO which states it's in La Fortuna town. It's actually several miles out of town, which was a problem for us since we didn't have a rental car and there's no public transport serving the area. The owner offered us a lift into La Fortuna on our first day, but beyond that we had to keep booking Ubers which also were quite unreliable. The cabin was nice but could do with a bit of upkeep — there were a lot of ants/termites that appeared in our kitchen and a bad smell came up through the drain in the bathroom. It's also worth noting that despite the tranquil pictures the property is next to a busy road and you can hear the traffic throughout the night."
