"Very nice hotel in the quieter part of the city."
Although the road that the hotel is situated in looks a little run down, it is a in a safe and quiet part of the city. Once inside this recently refurbished hotel you are transported into an excellent 4 star (close to 5 star) environment. Our room was very comfortable with a large Queen sized bed, very clean and overall great value for money.
Ours was a two night stay before embarking on a Danube cruise. We picked the Intercontinental for its proximity to the cruise ship. Outstanding views of the river and the beautiful buildings on the Buda side of the river. Concierge was very helpful with directions to distant points of interest. Lovely outdoor mall nearby.
This hotel is simply amazing. Modern, very well decorated, very large rooms ( I got an upgrade when I checked in), wonderful services. The breakfast is just great. The SPA worths the visit after a long day visiting the city.
Excellent Location, Friendly and helpful staff. Room is a good size, the bed and pillows are so amazing you don't want to leave. Budapest is a magnificent city and Sofitel is in our opinion the best place to stay while you explore.
From checking in through to checking out, the quality of service and the quality of the rooms outweighed the price. Compared to UK hotels, the Buddha Bar provided excellent value for money. In addition, its location on Vaci Utca was great ... A perfect base from which to explore Budapest by foot.
Budapest is a gem of a city. We were lucky to have good weather and three days was just enough to see the main sights from outside, Allow longer if you want to view the museums and art galleries or go on an excursion further afield. Purchasing a Budapest card would have given more freedom to explore the trams, metro and trolley bus routes, but instead we bought a hop-on hop-off tourist ticket from one of the three rival companies. It lasts two days and was ideal for us because the buses were reasonably frequent (every half hour) and provided a good commentary in English while we travelled so we quickly gained a feel for the city. .
The hotel is in easy walking distance of the main city centre sights as well as the hop-on hop-off buses and the main stop for river trips. The room was spotlessly clean and large enough not to feel cramped, with two chairs and writing tables.
Nice stay, at an affordable price in the city centre, close to all sightseeing places. Staff were very helpful and friendly, rooms and bathrooms are small but modern and clean and . Beds are confortable and rooms were quiet even though were facing the main street. Vaci street, Gellert Baths and Sikla templom are all at a 5 mins a short walk in straight line towards Danube and Sabadsag Hid. Only one comment on the pool and sauna program as during the week is not open in the mornings (open 3 pm till 9pm) and as we stayed only one night we could not use these facilities before check out. Also try the Pesti Sorcsarnok Pub and restaurant on 14 Vamhaz Korut where you can have the same Hungarian cuisine as on Vaci street but at half the price.
"Very central to main attractions and the Danube."
Staff were really helpful and friendly - we were a booked 7 rooms for a family wedding and nothing was too much trouble. Did say the rooms were sound proof - they were not, but other wise the hotel was excellent value and so well situated for what we wanted.
