After reading a few reviews we were not sure what to expect however we couldn't be more pleasantly surprised. A lovely warm welcome from staff who couldn't do enough for you. Our room was fantastic with furnishings in keeping with the style of the hotel (maybe not to some people's taste if you are looking for a contemporary room). The food in the bar on the evening was superb and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was most satisfactory too. OK so there were some little bits here and there that fussy visitors could point out but nothing that could spoil your stay. Worth the price in our opinion.
Small rooms in pub grounds in a converted barn. These are adequate for one night but I wouldn't want to stay any longer than that. The rooms noticeably lacked small touches such as soap, tissues, toilet brush etc. Comfortable bed and tea and coffee facilities were provided.
Friendly landlord but other staff were not over enthusiastic. There were a number of food choices "off the menu" for the evening meal. The English breakfast was good but other breakfast choices were at a minimum. Generally quiet, didn't appear to be supported by locals which gave you the feeling that if it wasn't for the room guests the pub would have very few customers.
Wouldn't think it was really a suitable location for families but it is a dog friendly pub as there were people staying in rooms with dogs!!!! Not sure I would agree with that, there should be Dogs Allowed rooms and No Dogs Allowed rooms because some people have allergies to animal fur. Choices! as it it used to be of course with smoking and no smoking rooms.
