The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the subway station. There are large malls close by. Many good restraints are easily accessible.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a kitchen and living area.
The pool was the perfect temperature and the scene was pretty mellow and relaxed.
The manager was very helpful and friendly.
"Stunning Architecture and Private access to wall, perfect Beijing get away"
The buildings at the Commune are amazing. Stunning, sleek and airy architecture complimented with perfect lighting and top notch service.Being the only ones walking along the wall is a memorable experience. For the high standards of rooms and service the price is more than worth it. An excellent weekend away escaping the hustle and bustle of Beijing. The hotel has a pool, a few choice places for dining, a gorgeous yet a bit pricey spa, and a kid's play centre. Waking up to overlooking the wall was an absolute highlight of the whole China trip.
As a Marriott hotel, the room was really nice with lots of rooms. It was very quiet although there is a school next to it. However, I did not the following:
1. When I entered the room the A/C was off and the room was hot (not a big issue)
2. The window was open that allow dust to get in (not a big issue)
3. The facility is great but it needs to be maintained properly. Especially inside the bathrooms
4. Breakfast is basic
In general; I would recommed this Hotel
Distinctively situated within Beijing's Central Business District, The Sandalwood - Beijing Marriott Executive Apartments …More
Our room was comfortable with a huge comfortable queen size bed that came with 4 pillows. Bathroom was nice with marble floors and walls, complete with a tub and separate shower and separate toilet! But looks were somewhat deceiving as the toilet stopped flushing twice. Having a separate shower was great, except the water doesn't drain completely after use and water sometimes seeped out into the adjacent toilet area. In the room itself, your treated to a nice sized LCD TV with loads of channels, but I wish they had more English channels....there's only so much Discovery channel you can watch at night. As for other hotel amenities, the indoor heated pool was nice as there's almost never people in it. There's also 3 restaurants inside, Thai, Chinese and an international buffet. Weirdest thing though was every floor we went to smelled like cat urine in the morning. Strange...but overall the stay was comfortable.
But the problem is location. It's in a quiet more residential district that's far from central Beijing. Although it's on the main artery, it's about 40min from the airport, so getting to Tian'anmen square takes almost 25 min by bus. The bus stop is about 3 min walk but the nearest subway was about a 10 min walk. Best suggestion if you want to take the subway, is to take the bus 1 stop to the Wukesong station. Good food is rare here as well. But I guess you get what you pay for.
