The only minor complaint I would have about this hotel is finding it! They do not have a map on the web site anywhere, and no one in Beijing knows where 'Financial Street' is because they only know it by the Chinese name (Jirung or something?) If I didn't have the phone # of the hotel with me, I may not have ever found it! Also its about a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway. The hotel itself was great, everything you would expect from a Ritz-Carlton hotel - great service, great room, excellent restaurants and facilities.
The hotel has great views of Olympic park, especially at night, and is near by a shopping mall in the park with restaurants. The Expedia rate was great, and including breakfast is a good deal when added to the room rate. Restaurants at the hotel are very nice, but very expensive. Breakfast was very good.
Wifi connection was strong, but connections to US web sites is slow, and many are blocked by firewall in China. It worked well for email and news sites, not a lot else.
Our first time in Beijing was memorable for many reasons not least for our stay in this hotel. Right in the heart of the city and very close to the Forbidden City we felt we'd made the perfect choice with the Grand Hyatt. We ate in the hotel's Made in China restaurant which is excellent, drank some delicious cocktails in the bar and sat at the lobby lounge after a day of sightseeing enjoying a beer. We had booked a suite which was exactly as you'd expect from a 5 star hotel - roomy, good shower/bathroom facilities. We'd definitely stay again.
I stayed five nights in this hotel. My stay was very enjoyable. The room I stayed in (on the 12th floor) was spacious and included many extra amenities such as a TV in the bathroom, a drawer with office supplies (scissors, paper clips, daily newspapers on the floor, etc), curtains that open and close with a remote, etc. The bedding is of a high quality and very comfortable. The room was nicely furnished and decorated. It was very clean, with a maid service twice a day. The staff speaks good English, is extremely helpful and truly service-oriented. You feel pampered at this hotel. The hotel is not in a walking distance to most attractions. However, this is not an issue since it is 2 minutes walk from a metro station. The metro system is very efficient, punctual, safe, clean and reaches every important location in the city. Further, for about $2-3 taxi fare you can get to most attractions. There is a Starbucks and a couple of good restaurnats in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, if you want to avoid the hotel's pricey restaurant. The only complaint that I have is that they charge extra for internet connection. Overall, I warmly recommend this hotel and plan to stay there in my next trip to Beijing.
Good business hotel. Probably not the best location for sight seer's. It was very convinient for my purposes. Room was a little bit warm but I did not mind after working in the cold Beijing environment!
