My wife and I booked the room for 8 nights paying hoping that it'd be like a motel property. But we're shocked and very upset when we found out that it's a separate room but part of the house sitting in the backyard. We also noticed the owner has dogs which would make it more noisy during our stay. We didn't stay there for even 10 minutes and requested the host for a cancellation. The host denied our request and suggested to contact the cancellation thru Expedia. In exchange, we even offered to pay for a half-day rent but still denied. Later, we contacted the Expedia/Vrbo and had a customer rep verbal chatting on the phone (using the speaker phone) with the host. Still no good. Neither the host nor the Expedia obliged our request. We had a long trip overseas before coming to this place so we're quite exhausted and frustrated. Also, somehow we also missed to add the cancellation warranty as part of the stay. We ended up forfeiting the entire 8 nights rent as we did not want to stay there at all. We decided never to use the host for any future stay!
The moral of the story: Never make a reservation for such private location no matter how good it sounds Online comments until you have physically visited the site. Start the reservation with a day, if you like then, you can always extend it later but make sure to add the cancellation warranty. This way, you will only lose the 1 day rent at the worst and won't have to go through all the pain and hassle!!!
