"Nice but basic room does not have natural light"
Hotel was surprisingly nice as we were expecting a budget hotel. Common areas and rooms are well designed and have an upscale bouticy feel. I had issues with the fact that our room did not receive any natural light so it was impossible to know if the sun had risen. I felt like in a dungeon. My partner did not have any issues with this. My suggestion, don't get the most basic room.

"Easy walk to convention center"
The hotel is clean but aging. My travel was for business, the American Library Association annual conference. I choose the hotel because it was across the street from one of the official conference hotels so I would have easy access to the conference shuttle. The desk staff were all very helpful and friendly, the hotel is older and shows it in the VERY small elevator, a little shabby chic and like all older hotels there are very few outlets. There is a light shaft the hotel is built around so you do have some natural light but absolutely no view unless you want to see the mechanical equipment at the bottom of the light shaft. WIFI is decent. The in-room fridge is small and there is no light switch in the closet. The desk is actually the credenza the TV sits on so yes, you can use it but it's not a comfortable height. I was in a deluxe room and it was tiny. BUT, the room was clean, the bedding in good shape, everything worked. I carry a power strip with me when I travel so the lack out outlets wasn't a problem for me. The hotel is on the same street as GLIDE a church with a serious urban outreach mission so they do feed the hungry. The church celebrates all forms of diversity so if you have a problem with LGBTQ or mixed race peoples then don't stay over a Sunday. If you do, attend a service and celebrate.

"Ok hotel in centre of town.."
Was expecting a really nice hotel and room for $300 a night.. Disappointed upon arrival. Room smelt so musty took a good day to air it out. Bed was nice and they sent up a card and wine for our honeymoon. Location is a plus though right in the centre of town walking distance to great shops, a 5 storey mall and restaurants. We hired a car and the hotel wanted to charged us $57 a day to park there.. We found parking elsewhere but was still expensive. I would recommend not hiring a car in San Fransisco unless you really need to. They have a great publix transport available.

"Great staff"
The staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed including running to buy us new pillows! They gave us good info and made helpful recommendations. One thing you should be aware of is the street noise. Make sure you ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Experience was satisfactory. I would have liked to have a make-up mirror (with magnification) in the bathroom.

"nice hotel right in the heart of SF"
Neat hotel right at Union Square. Very convenient to everything. A lot of shops and nice restaurants near by. The hope on hope off bus stop is right at the corner.
