Visit two of Mexico's most popular Magic Towns, Chignahuapan and Zacatlán, on a full-day tour. See a famous Christmas ornament workshop and a clock maker's museum, admire a giant painted statue of the Virgin Mary, and explore the unique rock formations of the Piedras Encimadas Valley.
Named by Mexico's Secretariat of Tourism, Magic Towns highlight outstanding examples of the country's history and culture. In Chignahuapan, you can learn about the process of manufacturing the town's famous Christmas ornaments at a local workshop and pay a visit to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, home to a 46-foot (14-m) cedar statue of the Virgin Mary.
The next leg of the tour takes you to the Piedras Encimadas Valley, surrounded by forests and shrouded in mist and fog. This rocky landscape features strange rock formations that have been sculpted over time by the erosive force of the wind.
When you arrive at Zacatlán, admire the giant floral clock in the town's main square. Learn about the community's history as the home of Centenario, Latin America's first clock factory, with a visit to the Clock Museum.
Sip some refreshing cider at a local brewery, where you can also buy some famous apple soft drinks as well as liqueurs, creams, and fruit sauces. Your tour concludes with a walk to the Plaza Principal, the San Pedro, and San Pablo Parish, as well as the former Franciscan convent.
