The chapel was built on the ruins of an old church dedicated to St John the Baptist. The lookout used to function as a shot-casting tower. It is 40 metres tall with 200 steps leading to the top.

The oldest watermill of Tata town is situated at one of the nothern side of the Old lake, over the stream called "Által ér" It survived the turkish occupation and it was in 1753 rebuilt in baroque style. It was used normally for grinding until the end of the 1960s.
