Maze Town
You will visit this intricate and sleepy town that was built during the Northern and Southern Dynasties (the 14th century) to the invasion of enemies. The labyrinth paths of the town lead to the Seiko-ji Buddhist temple, a Sacred Pilgrimage temple site in Shodoshima.
Along the way you will tour the house of the quarry magistrate, which was a significant site during the time when the moat rocks were quarried and brought to Osaka Castle approximately 100 km away via the Seto Inland Sea during the 17th century.
Adjacent to Maze Town, you will tour the Dofuchi Strait, a Guinness Book Record certified site as the narrowest strait in the world.
Kasane-iwa Rocks of Kose area
This historical site has received much attention in recent years as a new spiritual “power spot”. This is due to the unique placement of a few large boulders located at the top of a scenic hilltop.
This quarry site is one of the many places where large stones were once quarried for the building of Osaka Castle moat during the 17th century.
Kodokutsu Temple No.60 of the Shodoshima Sacred Pilgrimage Temple sites
This unique temple is situated in a cave alongside the Setouchi Inland Sea. In the cave, you will find a tickling water spring and a rock formation that looks as if it was popping out of the rock wall.
