A Tomb with Char Bagh Garden

It is believed to be the most beautiful example of expressing love
by 5th Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his much loved wife
Mumtaz Mahal who died after child birth. This is an architectural
wonder erected in 17th century where more than 20000 skilled
and non-skilled workers were employed who came from
different parts of the world.
This monument is in everyone’s bucket list and it is a must visit
place once in a life time.

  1. Bagh- i- Nur Afshan or Aaram Bagh

This is believed to be the very first river front gardens of Agra
located on the bank of river Yamuna. This is where the 1st
Mughal emperor Babar was laid to rest for a while before his
remains were shifted to Kabul in Afghanistan. Many historians
believed that the garden belonged to Nur Jahah, she was the
Mughal Empress & it was used by the imperial family for several
occasions.

  1. Chini Ka Rauza or The Garden tomb of Afzal Khan

This is believed to be the first garden tomb in Agra erected in the
beginning of 17th century as a final resting place for Mulla
Shukrulla as Shiraazi. He served as a noble under Mughal
Emperor Jahangir and Shah Jahan. He was also a poet,
astronomer and mathematician and highly esteemed by Shah
Jahan for his good character.

  1. Maqbara of Itimad Ud Daulah or Garden Tomb of Mirza Ghyas
    Beg

This is one of the most beautiful & well-preserved garden tombs
with char bagh or the persian style of laying out the garden
where the main tomb is placed in the middle of the garden & the
four gardens around it with water channels and fountains facing
the river side. It was erected in 17th century as a final resting
place for Mirza Ghyas Beg by his daughter Nur jahan who was
the Mughal Empress. This tomb of Itimad Ud Daulah is not to be
missed.

  1. Buland Bagh or Battis Khamba Tower
The garden is attributed by tradition to Buland khan or
Sarbuland Khan who was a eunuch of Jahangir. It serves today as
a nursery and is largely ruined but it retains a high tower known
    as battis khamba.

  2. Bagh- i- Mehtab Shahi or The Moon light Garden

This garden was built by Emperor Shah Jahan & it is of same
width as the garden of Taj Mahal. This is believed to be the place
where Emperor Shah Jahan wanted to built the black Taj Mahal
for himself & this storey is reported by French traveller Jean
Baptist Tavernier. This garden is the best spot in city to witness
the sunset view of the Taj Mahal.
