What you can expect

Enjoy the beauty of the Hardanger Fjord at a leisurely and relaxed pace with this guided day trip. Start with pickup from select hotels and centrally-located meeting points in Bergen. Hop aboard a spacious and air-conditioned bus and relax on the scenic journey to the lookout at Trengereid, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the east Osterfjord and the island of Osterøy. There is also a small bakery here where you can get a coffee and a public toilet as well.

We then continue to Steinsdalsfossen waterfall where you can walk between the rock face and the cascading water without getting wet.
You will also find a small cosy cafe with a souvenir store here. There are a few tables on the terrace, right next to the small crystal-clear stream with a view of an old stone arch bridge.

We then drive on to Spildegarden Cider Farm where you can buy snacks and apple cider in a dining room with a fireplace. From the courtyard you have spectacular views over the Hardanger Fjord.

If you wish, you can also be dropped off in the centre of Norheimsund and spend your lunch break (approx. 1 hour) here. There are several restaurants and a small shopping centre with a bistro. The place is beautifully situated directly on the Hardanger Fjord.

We then continue to the Hardanger Bridge, which, with a total length of 1,380 m and a height of 55 metres, was the longest bridge in Norway and the tenth longest in the world when it was opened. After crossing the bridge, we stop at a viewpoint. From there you have a wonderful view of the bridge and the Hardanger Fjord.

We then continue along the coast and enjoy the panoramic views of crystal-clear water and rugged cliffs. Along the way you will pass picturesque fishing villages, each with its own charm and history. We will stop every now and then along the way to take a few photos.

In Odda, we stop off at the cosy bistro Smeltehuset, where freshly baked waffles and a coffee are already waiting for us. The first ever tourists in Norway, mainly from the UK, came here and the town was once the most popular destination for wealthy summer visitors.

We then make our way to Jondal, where we take the ferry at 18:20, which will take us across the main arm of the Hardanger Fjord. The crossing takes 20 minutes. There are toilets and a small self-service café on the ferry.

The ferry then docks in Tørvikbygd from where we make our way home to Bergen.
The return journey takes about an hour and a half, so we will arrive back in Bergen shortly after 8 pm, just in time for dinner.

We will then drop you back at your hotel, or at the point where you boarded.

You had a wonderful day :-)
