Once in Catania we begin the walking tour. We walk to Piazza Duomo, in the heart of the city, to admire its baroque buildings and explore the grandiose monuments scattered around the centre. In the centre of the square we find the Elephant Statue (symbol of the city), carved in the typical black volcanic stone of Catania, as well as admiring the imposing Town Hall. We cross Via Etnea, the lively high street that takes its name from the city's nemesis, the imposing Mount Etna, and Piazza Stesicoro to see the remains of the Roman Amphitheatre and the monument to Vincenzo Bellini: the illustrious opera composer from Catania. We continue on Via Etnea and crossing Villa Bellini, the public park, we set off to return to the starting point, passing through Via Crociferi, film location for many Italian films but, before getting on the bus, we visit the famous "Pescheria": market of outdoor fish, famous for its particular colours.
