After breakfast, our guide will take you on the Stone Town historical tour around the old city of Zanzibar. You will walk through the trails of the former sultans, slaves, and explorers in the winding streets of Stone Town. Your guide will narrate to you the historical events that shaped Zanzibar. Check out the former slave market, the Anglican cathedral, the house of wonders, old Arab fort, the Sultans Palace Museum, and many more. Afterwards, relax at the Zanzibar Coffee House for some refreshments and a chance to cool from the outside heat.

After lunch you go on a guided tour of Prison Island by boat. Built to house those Zanzibaris thought to be rebellious to the colonial Arabs, the prison was never actually used, and today it is a home to a tortoise sanctuary and a hotel. It has spectacular coral reefs for you to enjoy. By boat, it takes about 25 minutes from Stone Town. Explore the island further by following one of the various hiking trails or snorkel in the crystal clear waters in search of colourful tropical fish in the reef. Then later relax and soak up some sun on the powder white beach. Return to your hotel in Stone Town later in the evening.

After breakfast today, you will transfer to northern Zanzibar where the famous Nungwi beach is located. The trip takes about 1 hour by car. Your driver will take you past the fish markets, where freshly caught fish are being auctioned. There is a stop at the ruins of an old Portuguese settlement, dating back to 1497 when the Portuguese conquered Zanzibar.

Spend the afternoon touring Nungwi. The north coast is considered the dhow-building capital of Zanzibar. Stop at the construction site where dhows are being built the same way they have been built for centuries by skilled craftsmen bending wood to create the local boats. Take a guided tour of Nungwi village where local women wrapped in Kangas cook over firewood and smiling children play.

Nungwi is known for its crystal blue water, phenomenal sandy beaches, snorkelling, and great nightlife. It is the most popular beach in Zanzibar. Walk down to the beach where you can enjoy some free sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling. Watch some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. The sky turns pink and gold as the sun sinks over the Indian ocean. Return back to Warere beach resort in the evening for overnight relaxation.

After a lovely breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and our driver will be there waiting to transfer you back to the airport in Stone Town. This is the end of your Zanzibar beach experience.
