Overview

The old town of Korčula is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Mediterranean.
Walls and towers defended the strategic position of the city, whose layout of streets and squares is designed in the shape of a herringbone in order to provide residents with security and comfort. The Statute of the town, dating from 1214, regulated life in Korčula. Stonecutting and shipbuilding were the most important Korčula crafts from ancient times.
According to legend, the city was founded by the Greek hero Antenor after the fall of Troy.
Marko Polo, a famous traveller, is believed to be from Korčula.
As added value, we also visit Matuško winery on Pelješac.

Activity itinerary

Dubrovnik-Neretva County
  • 2h
Your tour will start with your private driver picking you up from your accommodation in one of our luxury Mercedes vehicles. Enjoy a comfortable 2-hour drive along the Adriatic Highway and the Peljesac Peninsula.
Ston City Walls (Pass by)
The Walls of Ston are a series of defensive stone walls, originally more than 7 kilometres long, that surrounded and protected the city of Ston in Dalmatia, part of the Republic of Ragusa, in what is now southern Croatia. Their construction was begun in 1358.
Peljesac Peninsula (Pass by)
Lined with long shingle beaches, the Pelješac peninsula that stretches out north of Dubrovnik towards Korčula is that wonderful rarity—a Dalmatian getaway without the crowds. Welcoming windsurfers and wine lovers alike, Pelješac is also known for its oysters and mussels, arguably the best in Croatia. Once the northern outpost of the Ragusa Republic, today’s Dubrovnik, Pelješac still contains the unique historic attraction of the Walls of Ston, Europe’s longest fortification.
Orebic
  • 15m
Our estimated arrival time at Orebic is 10 a.m. From Orebic, you will take a pleasant 15-minute ferry boat across the Peljesac channel to the Old Town of Korčula.  Orebic is located towards the tip of the Peljesac Peninsula, opposite the island of Korcula. Once upon a time, it was very well known for its maritime industry, which reached a peak in the mid-19th century during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. These days, it is probably the best-known resort on the Peljesac Peninsula. It is home to some lovely beaches, including that rarity in Croatia—sandy beaches!
Korcula Island
  • 15m
Enjoy a panorama of the sixth-largest island in Croatia while taking a 15-minute ferry boat trip across the Peljesac channel to the Old Town of Korčula. Korcula is 20 miles long and rather narrow, between 4 and 5 miles wide on average. This island is known for its dense forest, and the ancient Greeks called the island Black Korcula (Kerkyra melaina) for this reason.
Korcula Town
  • 5h 30m
The expected arrival time in the town of Korcula is 10:30 a.m. Korcula is a historic fortified town on the protected east coast of the island of Korcula. The old city is surrounded by walls, and the streets are arranged in a herringbone pattern, allowing free circulation of air but protecting against strong winds. Must-visit points:  St. Mark's Cathedral and Bishop’s Treasury Korcula Town Museum Interpretation Centre Marco Polo Exhibition "Korcula Wooden Shipbuilding' Icon Collection At 03:30pm, you will have a scheduled ferry boat transfer back to Orebic, where you will meet your driver, and at 04:00pm, you will start your return journey to Dubrovnik, which will include a few additional stops.
Matusko Winery
  • 1h
After departing from Orebic, we will drive for 30 minutes along the scenic Peljesac roads to arrive at our last stop. The combination of wine and tourism in Croatia and beyond the borders of our beautiful country is offered by many taverns and wine cellars. However, one of them stands out with its quality, knowledge, and perseverance. From a small wine cellar visited by a small number of tourists, "Podrum Matusko" in Potomje grows into one of the largest and most famous destinations for wine lovers from around the world, where wine expert Mato Violić Matuško presents and offers top indigenous wines from the Pelješac region and Dubrovnik Neretva. A visit to this winery remains a lasting experience that comes back again and again with every glass of Matuško's wines. At the end of the tour, enjoy a 1-hour and 30-minute drive back to Dubrovnik.
