What you can expect

The Malay Cook-Up’s koesister & samoosa demo

The Malay Cook-Up has taken its traditional kitchen collaboration one step further with the koesister and samoosa demo.

During this class, participants will learn how to make the samoosa (pastry triangle) and koesister (traditional, sweet-spicy doughnut) from scratch. The two-hour, interactive cooking workshop takes you through this process step-by-step, while guided by an accomplished Cape Malay cook, in a home kitchen in Bo-Kaap.

At the end of the class guests sit down with the host to enjoy their self-prepared snacks, while engaging in some hearty conversations.

The koesister and samoosa are synonymous with the the Bo-Kaap’s earliest inhabitants, and today remains an integral part of South Africans’ diets, regardless of their culture and religion.
