Hiking Lion's Head for sunset is a Captonian tradition. The evening sun often casts a golden glow over the ocean and Cape Town coastline creating a warm and serene ambiance. Activity itinerary

Geocache Lion's Head Hike Sunrise/Sunset. Our Geocache hike is a collection of geocaches hidden along the hiking trail taking you up to the summit of Lion's Head. The hiking trail circle the all mountain getting to the very top of Lion's Head. This means you’re getting views in all directions. At a certain point the path gives way to rough ground and you have to step up using your hands to scramble over rocks. You will then continue steeply upwards to the first ladder, before traversing left along a shelf with a chain handrail. Next, you will continue with the path until you reach a fork, where you will have the choices to either veer left to circumnavigate two rock pitches, or to turn right and climb the rock pitches. If you are not into vertical rock steps simply continue left, from where you can carry on with the path past some huge stone pine trees to gain the crest of the southeast ridge. At the summit of Lion's Head one has a 360 degree view of Cape Town it is one of the three iconic peaks that frame the city of Cape Town. It has Table Mountain as its backdrop. Then little by little, the city lights will turn off/on to offer a new sight.
