Come and discover the Alentejo!

Located in the south of Portugal, between Tagus River and the Algarve, Alentejo is a vast region of plains that seems to be endless. Mostly rural and with a low population density, Alentejo occupies around a third of Portugal's territory.

Leaving the Algarve, we drive along the Alentejo plain, here the cork oak is part of the landscape. The cork oaks produce cork, in which Portugal is the biggest producer in the world. Cork is a very versatile natural product that can be used for various purposes, such as in transports, building materials, clothing and accessories, furniture and design objects, and mainly cork stoppers.

Once arrived at Herdade da Figueirinha a refreshing welcome drink is awaiting you, followed by a short briefing of the day. On a tractor it's now time to discover the “Herdade” and Feel the Essence of Alentejo.
Meet the vineyard, the olive grove, the horses, the cows, domestic animals and if we are lucky the deer.

The first stop of the ride is the horses' stable. Take the opportunity to get to know the Lusitano, also known as the Pure Blood Lusitano, a Portuguese horse breed. This fantastic and ancestral animal is the oldest saddle horse in the world and is a constant presence in competitions worldwide.

The Alentejo is the leading region in the Portuguese wine market. The sun and the soils, the grape varieties and the wise hands and mouths of the producers and winemakers produce wines of first choice. You will get to learn more about this during a guided tour to Santa Vitória winery with a tasting of 3 variety of wines.

The olive tree plays an important role in the landscape. Green or ripe? Very or slightly spicy? Alentejo Olive Oil is a unique product born in Portugal's largest producing region. You will have the opportunity to experiment different types of olive oil during just before lunch.

Alentejo gastronomy, rich in flavours, has always been linked to the products of the countryside and is based on a fundamental trilogy: bread, olive oil and aromatic herbs. We invite you for a typical buffet lunch full of tasty local delicacies and refreshing drinks, included in the programme.
