Giant's Causeway

Flanked by the wild North Atlantic Ocean and a landscape of dramatic cliffs, for centuries the Giant’s Causeway has inspired artists, stirred scientific debate and captured the imagination of all who see it. Why not experience the Giant's Causeway for yourself? Visit the world-famous basalt columns with one of our official tour guides, or pick up an audio guide and go at your own pace. You can walk to the stones for free, but our car park is reserved for those buying tickets for our Visitor Experience, which includes a guided tour and use of the audio guides, available in 11 languages. Climb the Shepherd's Steps and hike along the clifftop trail to get a bird's eye view of the beautiful causeway coast. Or enjoy the road less travelled capturing the World Heritage Site on an active five-mile hike along the stunning cliff-top path with the guided Clifftop Experience. You can also unlock the mystery and stories of the landscape in the exhibition area of our award-winning Visitor Centre, which comprises a café serving seasonal, regional fayre, and retail zone where you can pick up locally-sourced memories of your causeway trip in the form of beautiful souvenirs and handicrafts, as part of the Visitor Experience.
Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge was first erected by salmon fishermen in 1755. Connected to the cliffs by a rope bridge across the Atlantic Ocean, Carrick-a-Rede Island (home to a single building - a fisherman's cottage) is the final destination. Suspended almost 100 ft (30 m) above sea level, the rope bridge was first erected by salmon fishermen over 250 years ago. In 2016 Carrick-a-Rede welcomed the highest number of visitors ever to this exhilarating rope bridge experience.
Dunluce Castle

In the 16th Century when Sorley Boy McDonnell came over from Scotland to consolidate McDonnell territories in both Ireland and Scotland, his main base became Dunluce Castle. Dunluce Castle is one of the most iconic monuments in Northern Ireland situated as it is rather precariously on the craggy and treacherous Antrim coast and it provides a very important chapter in the history of the McDonnells of Antrim and North East Ulster. It was Sorley Boy’s grandson, the 2nd Earl of Antrim, and his wife who finally decided to abandon Dunluce. In 1639 as they were waiting for dinner one evening the kitchen, along with kitchen staff, fell into the sea. This is thought to have been the final straw. Although the 1st Earl of Antrim had already built a fine house at Glenarm, this was burnt down in the 1640s by a Scots Covenanter army, so even though they still visited a wing of the house, the Antrim family based itself at a house near Dunluce called Ballymagarry until Glenarm Castle was rebuilt by the 5th Earl in 1756. Dunluce Castle still belongs to the McDonnell family, however, it is currently managed under a deed of guardianship by the Northern Irish Environment Agency.
Ballintoy Harbour

Ballintoy Harbour can be discovered in the picturesque village of Ballintoy. Known as a ‘raised beach’, it is located alongside the B15 coast road, 17 miles north-east of Coleraine and five miles west of Ballycastle. The small fishing harbour can be found at the end of a small narrow steep road down Knocksaughey Hill, which passes by the entrance to Larrybane and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. The village itself, which is just one kilometre from the harbour, has a charming array of small shops, two churches, including the quaint white Ballintoy Parish Church on the hill above the harbour, as well as tourist accommodation, restaurants, commercial and social facilities. For those looking to capture a true sense of Irish rural life, it is an ideal stop over whilst touring the coastal route.
Larrybane Quarry

Larrybane quarry is on the northern coast of Northern Ireland near Ballintoy, on a promontory that overlooks Sheep Island. Only a small site, it became well-know due to its use as the filming location of "Renly Baratheon's camp near Storm's End in the Stormlands" in Game of Thrones. It is a former limestone quarry. The surrounding area would have been dotted with lime-kilns where burnt lime was drawn away by horse-and-cart to be used to whitewash walls and spread on farmers’fields.

This beautiful avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. It was intended as a compelling landscape feature to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland. In fact, the iconic trees have been used as a filming location in HBO's epic series Game of Thrones®, representing the Kingsroad.
