Unique Sleeps: Ham Yard Hotel London
Unique Sleeps: Amazing hotels hand picked by Expedia Experts. Ham Yard Hotel, London.
This was my first time in London – and there can be no better place to end a long stint overseas on an amazing holiday than at the Ham Yard Hotel. To get straight to the point, this five star hotel is awesome and is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. It’s a visual feast, with every inch of the space designed and considered – not surprisingly since it was created by the deft hand of UK super designer Kit Kemp. The hotel is super fancy but the staff made us feel very welcome, and treated everyone like royalty.
Ham Yard Hotel is located at the end of a cul de sac (it sits at number 1. Ham Yard, hence the name) – the leafy outdoor street is surrounded by a string of restaurants and boutiques. Step inside and it becomes apparent this is an amazingly decorated space. The hotel reception flanked by a restaurant/bar and sitting room is almost a visual overload but it works. It’s bright and beautiful. Even the hotel’s corridors are wallpapered in a beautiful botanical print.
Style queen Kit Kemp heads up the Firmdale Group’s design team and has decorated this hotel in her signature fresh London Style. Every space is a feast for the eyes, from the elevator, foyer hallways and restaurant to the bar and every hotel room.
From the moment I stepped inside the lobby I was convinced I wanted to move in. If only I was so lucky! The hotel has everything you could possibly imagine needing, along with a fun few extra features. Bars a restaurant, its own bowling alley, a rooftop terrace and numerous private function rooms!
Our room was one of the most elegant I’ve ever stayed in. It overlooked the central front courtyard and was filled with a leafy spring view. It was beyond comfortable and decorated impeccably. Despite the busy hotel downstairs and the central location, we found it very peaceful.
Even if it’s just for one night, Ham Yard is definitely worth experiencing – it’s the epitome of the fresh style, personality and attention to detail of the London design scene.
