Listopedia: Brisbane for the Fit and Healthy Traveller
As travellers we’ve all had that moment mid-trip when we can’t face another (yummy) pizza or visit to a Cathedral, and so we seek out an outdoor adventure activity plus a café offering a plethora of healthy food options. Nodding your head?
Brisbane is a city packed with awesome options for outdoor adventure, eating healthy delicious food and plain old relaxing. If you are heading to the Queensland capital soon, we’ve prepared the following travel guide with a few of our favourites just for you.
1. Mt Coot-tha
Home to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Brisbane Lookout, plus a scenic drive, walking and running tracks, Mt Coot-tha is a top spot to either completely zen-out while enjoying the brilliant views, or to go for a big explore. It’s worth checking out events run by the Brisbane Botanic Gardens that include school holiday activities, twilight yoga and circuit training classes. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat, the Kuta Café (next to the Brisbane Lookout) is open for breakfast right through to 10 or 11pm at night (depending on the day). Their menu includes vegetarians and gluten free options.
2. Walking Tour
If you enjoy exploring a city on foot, you’re bound to like one of Walk Brisbane’s walking tours. The tours are run by passionate Brisbane locals keen to show their city off! Choose from the City Essentials, Laneways Café or Art & Design tour and each usually runs for about three hours.
3. Pineapple Express Café
This superfood café found at Portside Wharf in Hamilton opened at the beginning of June. It’s quick becoming a favourite among Brissie locals for its delicious healthy menu. Think acai bowls and smoothies for brekky, wickedly good zucchini pasta for lunch and not to be missed paleo sweets.
