Quite with no kids and no TV in rooms made for a relaxing time

This time we got one of the 200 series room. It was amazing

Beautiful suite on 1st floor. Very quiet and spacious. Very comfortable bed and great amenities

We booked a “PREMIUM” over water bungalow. We had numerous problems unfortunately. - No bottled water provided upon arrival and expensive to purchase at the restaurant. - No laundry service - Multiple power outages with no hot water, no air con, no phone - Problems with wifi and no tv sometimes - Basin water blocked - Room service forgetting to replace coffee and glasses - Expensive food and drinks with complimentary breakfast sometimes running out of some food options - Snorkelers cove gave no advice on where to snorkle, and we both almost got run over by boats. Just a simple instruction to guests where to snorkle would be safer.

Food offerings were pretty standard, although the Teppanyaki was awesome. Pool was very good. Boat to the Erakor resort for Lunch/Dinner was very useful. Significant refurbishment from 8am to 5pm was annoying, made it difficult to relax on the verandah - due to drilling/grinding etc. Room was well located next to the lagoon, spacious and functional. Loved our 1st visit to Vanuatu, the close proximity of Erakor and Ramada hotels provided lots of eating/drinking options.

Staff were wonderful. Friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we were unable to swim in the lagoon due to pollution. The 3 swimming pools were great and very clean.

The Melanesian is a long-standing feature of the Port Vila accommodation scene and it's very well-priced. The Orchid Rooms are very pleasant but they all face onto the pool area. So you will want to have the windows shut if the music played at the bar and people's conversations bother you. The AC unit in my room did an OK job with keeping the room comfortable even with windows shut. The rooms have a good desk and small table for people needing to do work while there. The included breakfast covers all the expected bases – a small range of fresh fruit, toast, fresh breads, cereals and cooked breakfast options for extra charge.
