Owl Moon Cabin - Rare jewel of a cabin located inside Yosemite National Park
This cabin is one of the few properties that is actually located inside Yosemite National Park, with the shortest drive to Yosemite Village. The 7 mile drive from the cabin to Yosemite Village is a breathtaking descent with plenty of iconic photo opportunities.
We’ve been renting our beautiful cabin for 15 years now and have never received a negative review. However, we were previously listed on a private site and have just now made the switch to VRBO, which is why we have no reviews (yet!).
This beautiful, custom-built, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin is perfect for your Yosemite basecamp. We can accommodate up to 5 guests with a truly comfy pullout queen sofa couch, in addition to the 2 upstairs bedrooms.
After a day of hiking and exploring the park, return home to your quiet cabin with its well stocked kitchen and outdoor propane grill, for a lovely dinner on the deck while watching the sun set over the sierras. Both the front and back decks have tables and chairs for group outdoor dining. If you want a break from the crowds in the park, the Foresta area where are cabin is located, is the perfect area to explore on foot from your front door.
We’ve put so much love, care, and thoughtfulness into this cabin, all of which will be apparent when you first step foot inside. Our housekeeper lives next door and takes care of it as though it were her own. We hope you love it as much as we do!
Road conditions in the Foresta area; there is a main paved road into the Foresta area. The access roads to the cabins, are hard, dirt/gravel packed roads that are fine during summer/fall dry months, however, they can be more difficult with snow and ice on the ground.
For my winter guests, I want to make sure they understand winter road issues. The Foresta area of the park doesn't often get a great deal of snow, but that said, every winter there will be one, or two, good snow falls that can make access to the cabin difficult. Winter of 2022-23 was an exceptional doozy for snow! The park actually closed due to snow for over two weeks!
The county plows the main paved road into the Foresta area, where these cabins are located, but not the access roads. We have some local plowing and snow blowers to try to clear the approximately 1/4 mile access road to our cabin, but the dirt/gravel road would be too damaged by a plow to clear to dirt level. The ideal vehicle for a winter visit would have 4-wheel drive with higher clearance.
The park service states that during the months of November - April, all visitors should be carrying snow tire cables and know how to use them. Call NPS road & weather, prior to your departure.

Cabin was perfect for my husband and my trip to Yosemite. Most important- the bed was comfortable and there were lots of pillows. Fireplace was wonderful since it was so chilly this trip. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware that is actually good and clean (so many rentals just throw their old pots and pans or some busted stuff from goodwill and call it a day). I was pleasantly surprised that everything was clean and nice. Took the trail down to Foresta Falls and was great. Will definitely be back here again.
This cabin was spectacular! It was clean, comfortable, and beautiful! It was also in an amazing location. This was the perfect spot for our weekend getaway!
Loved our stay here! It was clean, great location and had everything we needed! Super cute cabin, comfy beds and plenty of room for our family of 4! Great communication from host.
The property was perfect for our getaway! Very clean, comfortable accommodations, amazing view of the night sky every night. We thoroughly enjoyed our time out in the park and cannot wait to return
Our family of four had a great stay! The cabin is well furnished and is a wonderful location to spend a lot of quality time in Yosemite valley. We enjoyed spending our mornings and afternoons at the park and dinner and evenings around the kitchen table playing cards. We would definitely recommend!

Please withdraw earlier comment about laundry detergent- we found it 😎
Loved the location, very quiet and relaxing. Cabin had the perfect layout, very cozy.
Upstairs shower had a drainage issue, not a fan of standing in water trying to dry off.
We spent 4 nights, my wife and I and two close friends who were visiting us from Louisiana, driving to Yosemite Valley, and hiking there and in the Giant Sequoia Grove and climbing Vernal Falls. The cabin was very nice and well appointed for our needs. The space allowed for privacy and also conversation and eating areas, and the Foresta area was very quiet and beautiful and allowed for local hiking to Foresta Falls without having to drive at all. We had a very nice stay.
Great cabin in an excellent location for exploring Yosemite.
Cabin matched the description as listed and had everything we needed for our stay.
Foresta creek and waterfall an easy walk from the cabin.
Easy communication with the owner.
The cabin was perfect for our family of four for a five day stay to enjoy the valley. It was well stocked with new appliances, warm, and the shower and bath came with fast hot water with good pressure. Beds were very comfortable. We truly appreciate the details that were put in place for the guests’ comfort.
Great location! So nice to start your day in the park without dealing with the traffic to enter. Very peaceful and secluded setting for the cabin. Bedrooms were big and nice. Only drawback was no TV service, but that was not priority.
We had a great time at Owl Moon. Everything met or exceeded expectations. The beds were super comfortable, kitchen well stocked- cooked breakfast and dinner most nights we were there. We even enjoyed watching a movie from the dvd selection- we were too tired after a long day of hiking to do anything else! Location was superb and convenient to explore Yosemite. Can’t wait to go back!!
Loved our stay and our first visit to Yosemite! Beautiful and quick drive into the valley each morning. Loved coming back to the cozy fire :) Cabin had everything we needed and we would definitely book again. Thank you :)
Stayed with my brother for our annual blow out trip. The cabin was quiet, clean and very comfortable. BBQed every night and ate dinner on the deck. Very easy and close drive to the Yosemite Valley for hiking. I highly recommend the cabin.
We thoroughly enjoyed this little slice of heaven. It was well equipped, clean, and comfy. Communication was outstanding from the host. Conveniently close to the valley with a beautiful ride through tunnels, passing vistas of the valley, and a waterfall at Cascade Creek. We would stay here again when visiting Yosemite Valley.
Loved everything about it. Amazing location. Great neighborhood. Cabin appears to be only a few years old so everything is nice, new and works. Did not have any issues. Owner was great and responsive. Really enjoyed the stay and have already recommended it to a few friends.
My sister, daughter and I enjoyed being able to stay within the park. The accomodations were exactly as described. Our beds were comfy! One thing a traveler should know about is the occasional power outage. We had one that lasted over 6 hours one afternoon into the evening. If my sister had come that uses a CPAP, this would have been a problem. Something to consider, there is no generator on site.
Our stay at Owl Moon Cabin was wonderful! The cabin was secluded yet very convenient for our visits to Yosemite. Even though the decor was fitting for a rustic cabin in the woods, we still had all the modern conveniences of home. Everything was very clean and tidy, and having a well-equipped kitchen was a huge plus! We enjoyed eating our meals out on the porch while we took in the beautiful scenery and relished the peace and quiet. Thank you so much for helping our family make memories to last a lifetime!
Very highly recommended!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The cabin is lovely with everything needed to be comfortable. It is very convenient to the main attractions and the visitor center in the valley. Staying inside the park is a big advantage! Loved the refreshing breeze and the owls at night. It is a wonderful place to enjoy peace and quiet. The directions and instructions were very accurate. Would not advise using Google maps once you get close. Use the provided instructions. Highly recommend staying here
Our family of 4 enjoyed our time at Owl Moon Cabin. It was the perfect location for us: close to the valley for picking up any supplies and as close to Tioga Road as possible while still being in the park. The cabin was extremely clean and a lot of thought was put into making it practical. We experienced a brief power outage due to a wildfire outside the park and the cabin was outfitted with everything needed: extra water for toilets, flashlights, etc. Lucy was responsive with questions and we appreciated that she checked in when she received a notification from PG&E regarding the power outage. Our cellphone provider had no coverage (AT&T), and the internet was sufficient for browsing, emails and most of our internet needs. We loved that the cabin was comfortable and in quiet neighborhood. Thank you for sharing your cabin with our family, we hope to visit in the future!
