About the Area
Nestled just 4 miles inside the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park is the charming and historic town of Wawona. Located at the base of Chilnualna Falls (the second-highest vertical drop waterfall in Yosemite), and home to the principal trailheads into the southern Yosemite wilderness, Wawona is also the closest town to the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. Wawona has the feel of a small town but is bustling with activity! Over 160 residents, including Yosemite Park employees, live in Wawona and can be seen gathering at the town's community center, playing a pickup basketball game at the elementary school, jogging on one of the many picturesque trails, or simply walking their dogs and baby strollers through the winding residential streets. The historic Wawona Swinging Bridge boasts the best natural water slide in the Park! The history village is filled with docents, stagecoach rides, horseback rides, and barn dances in the summer season, and the Wawona Meadow Loop offers year-round riparian meadow wildlife viewing. Wawona was known to the local Native American Miwok in their language as Pallachun (a good place to stay). It is located entirely within Yosemite National Park (it preceded the founding of the park as a national recreation area), and is located on the South Fork of the wild and scenic Merced River, on the main highway (State Route 41) from Fresno to Yosemite Valley. Galen Clark, who helped gain preservation legislation for Mariposa Grove and what later became part of Yosemite National Park, occupied the Wawona area in 1855 and established a tourist rest and modest ranch, which he later sold and made into a hotel and resort property (the Wawona Hotel). The Wawona post office was established in 1878 and was originally called Clark's Station. The Redwoods in Yosemite has over 120 vacation rental homes and is proud to say that all of them are located in Wawona. All are within walking distance to everything that Wawona has to offer and every one of them is surrounded by the majesty of Yosemite National Park!

Wawona is such a beautiful area! We absolutely loved staying at the Redwoods Stargazers Cabin — being surrounded by the majestic redwoods was incredible. One of the highlights was having both the swinging bridge and the Chilnualna Falls trailhead so close by. Being able to start such a beautiful (and a bit strenuous) hike right from the cabin without having to drive anywhere was amazing.Yosemite Village was about an hour’s drive due to road work, but that didn’t take away from our experience — we love Yosemite so much and will definitely be returning next year to stay at the Redwoods Stargazers Cabin again. The cabin itself was well equipped with plenty of pots and dishes, which made cooking easy. Just remember to bring your own cooking supplies and groceries if you plan to use the kitchen. The small convenience store nearby was also a big plus.We can’t wait to return next year!
It was a great house for my family and extended family to stay. Our final two days it snowed and the back area was perfect for sledding with the kids. The host was helpful and communicative. The only issue was the smoke detector in the living room was too close to the kitchen. It kept on going off when we made lasagna in the oven or even bacon for breakfast. Other than that it was great.

That specific cabin was horrible
That cabin was horrible. Nothing like the photos. The mold was making us all sick and it was hard to breath. Wasn’t very clean.
However Sharon at the Redwoods Office turned a horrible experience into a great one. The next morning moved us to a different home that was clean, no mold, and beautiful. Thank you Sharon!
This was our first time. Advice would be to make sure which home you’re getting. Grizzly was amazing!
This house met all our needs. It was perfect. Loved the decor

Great home!
We stayed at the Sloan's home for 3 nights and enjoyed the Yosemite sites and esp coming back to this wonderful home. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, it was stocked with lots of firewood and games to enjoy. Thank you for a beautiful visit to Yosemite!

Family Vacation
We had 3 generations, 10 people staying at the cabin for 5 days. The cabin was great, plenty of beds for everyone, nice flow from room to room, good cooking supplies, and a great deck all around the house where we spent most early mornings and late evenings. Hiked to the falls and the swinging bridge, explored the meadow and just had an awesome time.
This cabin is in a great location. There's a river that is a short distance away. Management gave us the wrong info to log into the WIFI but we figured it out. The dishwasher didn't work and the down stairs toilet would sometimes run. The beds are very comfy! We enjoyed our stay.
The shower downstairs was not cleaned when we arrived but because we checked in late we couldn’t switch. The house needs updates but overall nice. The staff were helpful when we got stuck in the lower driveway. I would of like washer & dryer and basic condiments to cook since the store closes at 6pm and opens at 8am.
Would have been a good stay had the basic cleaning been performed. We walked into the home, took off our shoes and socks, and after a few minutes of walking around, our feet were black. We had kids and babies that we wanted to lay on the rug but there were crumbs everywhere. Lucky we found a vacuum in the closet and vacuumed the floors ourselves. I’m not sure where the cleaning fee for this place is going but it’s definitely not going towards cleaning the home. One positive is that the maintenance guy showed up in minutes with propane when the grill ran out. We wish that this level of service was applied to the rest of the operations at The Redwoods In Yosemite. We will not be staying here again.

Very old accommodations/not worth the $
Where do I start? Booked this due to the fireplace. Checkin at 4 and they closed at 4:30. Compliments to your photographer, this place is old and run down! Half of the outlets didn't work. Booked because we wanted a fireplace but it smoked up the house so bad, we couldn't use it after first day! Brought to their attention and was told they "heard that before!!", WHAT! I wouldn't have paid nearly an outrageous price per night if I knew any of this, it was a dive! With that said we had a wonderful vacation in Yosemite National Park but accommodations sucked!
By the way, can't watch tv if you use other devices. My son had to hook up the dish because it was hooked up wrong! We didn't have wifii first night because they provided wrong information and office closed a half hour after checking in! Skip this one for sure!! I loved the area but this house is so old and run down, the linoleum was cracked and peeling throughout the house, smelled old and dusty, very disappointed!

Location overrides other issues
Overall, this home worked out well for our multi-family trip to Yosemite. We had the max amount of people and still had enough space to hang out upstairs together, and the back deck was nice for morning coffee. Being inside the park was key so we didn't have to wait at the gate each morning, and the trail to Chilnualna Fall is right behind the house! The kitchen was well-stocked and both the kitchen and bathrooms seemed newly remodeled and were clean.
Now for the cons. Bedrooms are smaller than they appear in the pictures. House is old and quirky(it is a cabin, after all).We technically had enough sleeping space but ended up putting one teenage boy on the floor downstairs because there was not a futon as it states in the description. Downstairs was smelly and there was a sticky trap under the bed. Upstairs, the floors were definitely not cleaned, rugs not vacuumed, and the furniture was all pushed to the side as if someone had forgotten to put it back. We tried wiping a floor tile to see if it was just our imagination and it came up black! There was dried spaghetti sauce on the table. We ran out of TP, paper towels and garbage bags by day 2 and called for more, which they brought, but you'd think for the price they would have extra supplies there when the place is booked for 12 people.
In the end, we decided the location and upstairs space in the cabin made this a nice stay for our family. Just be aware that you are paying a premium for location, not luxury!
The cabin seemed quite a bit smaller than was depicted in the online photos. Some other detractions: it seemed the cabin was not cleaned recently. The floors were very dirty, covered with dust and badly in need of vacuuming. The outlets in both bathrooms were inoperative. There was an unmarked breaker tripped, but even after resetting it, the outlets would not work. The kitchen circuit breaker tripped when we used the microwave, toaster and oven at the same time, but worked fine after resetting the breaker. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and such but limited on spoons. The upstairs bedrooms had insufficient lighting. On the plus side, management was very friendly and helpful. The Redwoods cabin area was beautiful with a small grocery store located very near and the Chilnualna Falls hike trailhead was a short walk from the cabin. Overall, a very pleasant stay. Needs more cleaning mainly.
Mice were on the house, (bottom floor) ants all over the kitchen area once we opened the cabinet drawers. Clogged bathroom sinks up and done stairs. An Oder of urine when we arrived to the house (bottom floor)

Great spot for 2-3 families to gather
This was a great house for our New Year's weekend. We stayed for 3 nights, a party of 10, and we were very comfortable. The wrap around deck was cool, the fireplace cozy, and the kitchen & bedrooms met all of our needs. Although there are lots of other homes in the neighborhood, the primary view from the main deck area does not have another house in immediate view, which is really nice. And the trail to Chilnualna falls is a very quick walk from the doorstep! The only complaint was that it was unnecessarily poorly stocked in terms of toilet paper (and dish towels). Four rolls (2 per bathroom) for 10 people, for 3 nights seems a little low. So, on New Year’s Day (after the front desk had closed for the holiday), we found that we were down to one roll, effectively making the two-bathroom house a one-bathroom house. I’m a pretty easygoing VRBO renter, so it was fine ... but for $700 per night (peak holiday rate), you’d think they could spare an extra couple $1 rolls of TP. The round table in the corner could use some new chairs too, as the seat was collapsed in at least one of them.
All things considered this was a great space and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a rental for 2-3 families with small kids, who wants to rent inside of Yosemite NP.

Lovely family retreat
Our family had a mini get together and this was perfect for the occasion. There was plenty of room for the 9 of us and so much in the area to see and do. It was so much more fun than being in a hotel as we were all together cooking, eating and laughing. The rentals here are well managed and maintained and it was the best time. Thanks Redwoods and the owners of 12B.

The Carri/Lutz Family
We enjoyed are time in house 12B. This was a special trip to Yosemite since we were celebrating the life of my brother. He passed away last August at 49 and Yosemite was he favorite place on Earth so of course it was the perfect finally resting place for him.
With our family so spread out across the US it was amazing having the kids all together in one place to celebrate Mikey.
The house fit us perfectly and the kitchen space worked well with the cooking and feeding of all. Afternoons were relaxing on the deck. The location of the home was perfect as the deck was away from others, location was perfect. We did have a few glitches. Upon arrival there were ants in the cabinet right to the sink were we were to put our food so we left everything on the island. We managed to keep the ants at bay by spraying cleaner we found under the sink. The upstairs bathroom left sink drain plug would not open so we left it out and the shower drain plug won't stay up so we did the same with that plug as well. It was unseasonably warm our last two days so we missed having air conditioning but we didn't expect ac. Only recommendation I would give to change is the living room sofas, they are uncomfortable for sitting around after hiking all day. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we will return to Redwoods Inn again as we having been using your houses for the past 26 years. Every single time has been enjoyable and memorable. Thank you

Hensel wedding
We had the home for 7 nights for a family wedding at The Chapel. Very nice property, we'll equipped. Grilling 2 meals each day, walking to the falls and star gazing with our apps especially fun. Love the Sloan artwork. We had guests from all over the USA and Europe and everyone commented on the spaciousness and scenery. A first visit for most of the guests.
