Grade II Listed, Baker’s Cottage dates back to the 17th century and sits in the heart of the pretty village of Hotham near Beverley, Market Weighton and Pocklington, the gateway to the Yorkshire Wolds. It’s a perfect base for families or a group of friends. The cottage can sleep up to six people and retains many of its original features. It’s ideally placed to explore the network of beautiful walks and miles of cycle routes.
The spacious kitchen and rear hall feature original York stone-flagged floors, leading you to the large country-style kitchen/dining area, which offers lovely views across the garden. The living room, up one step (with grab), features deep sofas where you can relax and watch your favourite movie. To the front of the property is a double bedroom up one step from the kitchen (with grab). This bedroom offers lovely views of the pretty cottage garden and planted border in front of the bedroom. A small shower room with a toilet and narrow hand basin lies in between the sitting room and bedroom. On the first floor, there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a free-standing slipper bath and a separate shower. Further down the hall is the large master bedroom with its own dressing. With vaulted ceilings throughout, original wooden floors and hand-painted murals adorning the hallway, master bedroom walls, and bath, the upstairs of this cottage is truly unique. Baker’s Cottage offers gardens to the front and rear, table for six and a bench at the front of the property, ideal for enjoying an al fresco breakfast or relaxing in the afternoon sun. At the rear there’s a yoga platform, so bring your workout mats with you and enjoy the tranquillity. If you are cyclists, there’s an outdoor store to put your bikes and at the side of the cottage, there’s space to park your car off the road. (Additional on street parking at the front of the cottage).
Within a short drive of the cottage is the market town of Market Weighton, or you can head for Beverley or Pocklington to shop for all your fresh food, explore the many independent shops or simply enjoy morning coffee and cake. There’s an abundance of restaurants in Beverley to meet every taste. Both Hull and York are within a short drive, where you can explore many museums, theatres and centuries of history. For those of you who enjoy horse racing, Beverley and York have excellent courses providing flat racing. The North Cave Wetlands Nature Reserve is only a mile away and is a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust site with a fantastic array of wetland and migrating birds, as well as lots of other wildlife. The village pub serves good food and ales as well as fine wine. Baker’s Cottage will provide you with the ideal holiday base to explore the unspoilt areas of East and North Yorkshire. Beach 25 miles. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 100 yards.
