Yakushima Iwasaki Hotel

Yakushima Iwasaki Hotel

8/10 Good
"Spectacular view, I had ocean and mountains. Large indoor pool and beautiful onsen. Lovely gardens and helpful staff. Good breakfast, Buffet and a decent steak for dinner. It’s a ways from Towne so unless you have a car, you’re not gonna drive in for dinner, but there aren’t many restaurants in the town anyway. They’re good bikes so you can ride around the island. You can swim with turtles on the far Sandy Beach, about a half an hour away. The bus system is great if expensive. Don’t miss the moss forest and the ancient trees. If you don’t wanna go see the oldest one, because it’s a gruelling 12 hour hike I’ll see the ones that are only 3500 years old. It’s a magical place a hotel itself is a bit 1970s teal and salmon but they give you cute clothes to wear around the hotel and the beds are good."

"The owner, Ryosaku Nakashima, is so nice and welcoming. And his English is very good. It was raining when we arrived so he let us have our room even though it was before checking time. The room was spacious and clean. We appreciated the “shoe dryer”, or whatever it is called; very well thought on this humid island. The laundry is very convenient. All the houses look very nice. The owner did a very good job. We highly recommend this place. "
