Gorgeous 3 bed cottage in Mortehoe with fantastic roof terrace seaviews!
Surrounded by the beautiful National Trust coast, with amazing views of the sea looking out to Baggy Point, Old Bakery Cottage is in a superb location for making the most of North Devon’s amazing coastline. This characterful yet spacious cottage is in the heart Mortehoe village and provides a fantastic base both for local beaches and for walkers with the Southwest Coast path just yards away.
The award-winning beaches of Woolacombe Bay (Times Beach of the Year 2021 and consistently noted in the top UK beaches list) are within walking distance or short hop by car. A 10-minute walk from the cottage across Morte Point takes you to Grunta Beach, a great alternative for rock pooling and sheltered bathing. The South West Coastal path allows you to head down to Morte Point to watch a resident colony of seals or towards Bull Point Lighthouse to Rockham Beach and beyond to Lee Bay The property itself is full of character making the most of its position and the available views with a spacious and light first floor open plan living area with a lounge and dining area and a terrace looking out to the sea. The kitchen is at one end of the space upstairs with cooker, new fridge/freezer, microwave, slim-line dishwasher, toaster, Air Fryer, kettle etc. The large living/dining room has a gas-flame effect fire, 2 leather sofas, dining table and chairs, wall mounted Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker/docking station with USB charger. High speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the cottage.
The bedrooms are on the ground floor. There are two double bedrooms (one with small en-suite w/c & shower) and a third bedroom containing 3ft (adult sized) bunks. There is a separate Utility/drying room with washing machine (no dryer) and a fitted bathroom.
Mortehoe is a charming village set up on the cliffs above Morte Point and Woolacombe. It features in the Doomsday book, and its lovely church goes back to Norman times. It has two great pubs serving locally produced food, a Fish & Chips shop, a tearoom, a Post Office, a village store, a bistro, a 13th century church, a gift shop and the local Mortehoe Museum. There is also an under 11’s play area in the village. These are all a short stroll away from the Cottage.
Slightly further afield the major surf beaches of North Devon await, championship standard golf may be played at Saunton with a 9 hole course just 5 minutes away and horse riding is also available locally
Bed linen & one bath/one hand towel per person provided -please bring beach towels. There is a travel cot and highchair if required. One well behaved dog is welcome. House rules explained on booking.
Parking is in the local Mortehoe village car park, just a short stroll away. You can drop off and unload at the cottage. There is a good value visitors parking permit that covers the village car park and 23 other local council car parks in the area. Four or seven day seasonal parking permits can be purchased in advance via credit/debit card and operate electronically from North Devon District Council website. All in all a truly lovely place with a special atmosphere and one of the only places with sea views in Mortehoe. We hope you’ll love it!

Relax and have fun!
We enjoyed our first visit to the Old Bakery Cottage very much. It is well equipped and so comfortable. Particularly we liked the recycle system with coloured baskets.
The area around is perfect for walking and we found some good places to eat. We want to stay again! Thank you ,

short review of stay at old bakery cottage mortehoe
Hi
Our stay at the old bakery was amazing! The house is comfortable' the view spectacular, quiet and so relaxing! just one thing- the fridge is a little small old and not in very good working order. Other than that no complaints at all. We would definently be interested in returning next year.
Kind regards to Maddy who was so helpful all along

Hidden down little side alley opposite the Chichester Arms is this charming apartment. Even a little House Martin nesting in the porch. Nicely decorated with lovely little arts and crafts around the place. We had a great stay with fantastic views to sit and ponder, while d3ciding which walk to do.

Great spot
Very pleased with our stay in Old Bakery Cottage. Mortehoe is a pretty little place, easy to get to Grunta beach (if you don't mind the hill!), and easy to get to Woolacombe whether by taking the road or walking over the hill. The cottage itself was very well appointed, with a good view from the terrace, and I really appreciated the utility room with not only a washing machine but plenty of room to hang up the towels, swimming stuff etc to actually dry - this makes a huge difference on this kind of holiday.
Property was delightful, situated near the village pub and shop post office and chip shop there was also a lovely bistro. The beach was within walking distance but was downhill! The coastal path was also accessible.

Amazing stay
We had a wonderful time at old bakery cottage. The village of Mortehoe has everything you need and all within walking distance. It’s a brilliant base to explore the North Devon area from and if you enjoy walking and swimming you will be spoiled for choice. It’s close enough to nearby villages if you wanted to explore and have a day out but the location of the cottage is perfect with plenty to do in the immediate area. The cottage has everything you need with a very well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook at home. It also has a lovely deck with a view of the sea which is a great spot for a morning coffee with a book or evening drink. I would highly recommend a stay at The Old Bakery Cottage and hope to visit again soon.

Face values
Its a lovely cottage with lots of space and light. Good position, although parking is an issue. On face value it appeared clean but could be improved.
Great location in center of Mortehoe tucked down a side street opposite the pub The Chichester Arms.
Woolacombe about a 5 min drive down steep narrow road that can get busy. You can walk over the hill would take about 30 mins.
Parking can be pre booked with North Devon council is a must as no parking at property.
Property itself spotless and perfect for 6 of us 4 adults and 2 kids. Great location for pubs and takeaways. 👍

Absolutely Perfect in Every Way!
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at Old Bakery Cottage.
The cottage was perfect for our group of 5. Views out over to Woolacombe were stunning, the facilities within the cottage were great, location is fantastic, only a 5 min drive into Woolacombe, can be walked, but a steep hill to come back up. The village of Mortehoe is great with 2 lovely pubs serving great good, a fantastic fish and chip shop, tea shop, bistro and take away.
Just perfect and would definitely recommend. We will return.
Thank you.

Fehlinformation

Comfortable and spacious accommodation
We enjoyed our holiday at The Old Bakery which was very clean with a stunning view from the balcony and would not hesitate to go there again, such a lovely little village with beautiful coastal walks too.
The view from the balcony makes this home a perfect location. The sea view and the fields around you are spectacular. The home is fully equipped with all you need to self cater. Comfy beds and lovely showers. Ticks all the boxes for me!

We’ve stayed here many times over the years and it was so good to be back after 2yrs gap. Great location,2 pubs serving good food and great for walking and the beach.although you’ll need the car to get there unless you don’t mind walking up a very steep hill on the way back!

Fabulous View
This is the second time we have visited The Old Bakery over a two year period the house and it doesn’t disappoint it has an excellent view from the balcony it’s a little sun trap. The bedrooms have plenty of space and it even has a laundry room the living room and dinning table are amply large with that good view all in all a splendid place to base yourselves. If your walkers like us you will enjoy leaving the car and setting out on foot in Mortehoe as the coastal trail is stunning as is the walk behind the Bakery to Woolacombe. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!
Loved this property it’s across the road from an excellent pub the foods yummy. The property is unassuming from the outside but lovely on the inside the view of the sea from the balcony was fantastic. Would definitely stay again 👌🏼

The Old Bakery. Stayed many times, would stay again. Very clean and great location.
We have stayed many times at this property. Great location, very convenient and great views. It has definitely improved over the years we have been staying ie new kitchen TV etc. We do feel however it needs new more comfortable furniture in the lounge area and the dining table and chairs are awful. Having said that it wouldn’t stop us from staying again.

Old Bakery Cottage Mortehoe
This was a real find for us and did not expect such a well equipped self contained property. Our stay was for 7 nights in a very quiet village with two pubs, a fish and chip shop and a specialist take away shop. The ground floor contained three spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry room. One bedroom had an suite which was small but convenient. The 1st floor contained kitchen, lounge and dining area leading onto a large external patio area with views to the sea and hills at the back of the property. This layout proved to be the selling point of the property. Would definitely book this property again especially as it was ideally placed for visiting Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and other nearby places.
We had a wonderful weeks stay at this property, fantastic location in a lovely village. Quiet and comfortable with everything we could need. Would love to come back again one day.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Bakery Cottage. The property met our expectations. very well organised and documented by the agents and owners. Location was excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone for a holiday or short break. The cleaning company did a good job.
