"Travelling from BC my 2 friends and I were on an adventure to seek out the real Newfoundland feeling and we found it at this little cottage.Right on the water, minutes walk to town and lovely interactions with locals. We were fortunate to have great weather so long walks and a grand visit to the Seaman’s Museum. We topped the stay with the seasons finale of the local theatre group.Highly recommended."

8/10 Good
"This is a cute little cabin in a remote fishing community. It’s big enough for 2 people but really not any more. You are right on the ocean and can see sea birds from out the windows. It was clean and cozy and we enjoyed the two days that we spent there. BUT - I wish we had known that you couldn’t flush toilet paper because of the septic. That was a bit of a shock and I think it needs to be a part of the property description."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Winterland?
The best area to stay in Winterland is the central village area, particularly around Main Street, for convenient access to local amenities and the community's welcoming atmosphere. This central part of Winterland is the heart of the community. Main Street is where you'll find the local general store, the community centre, and the primary access points to the surrounding natural beauty. It's a small, interconnected area where everything is easily reachable on foot or with a very short drive. For couples looking for a tranquil escape, staying near the central village offers a peaceful base. You'll be close enough to enjoy quiet walks along the coastline or venture onto nearby hiking trails, returning to the comfort of your accommodation with ease. The slower pace of life here is ideal for reconnecting and unwinding.Families will also find the central village area suitable. Its compact nature means children can enjoy the local park or explore the immediate surroundings without extensive travel.
When is the best time to go to Winterland?
The best time to go to Winterland is during the summer months, from late June to early September, when the weather is mildest and the landscape is at its most accessible.During this period, temperatures are generally comfortable, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region. The days are long, offering ample daylight for outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, and boating. Many of the local attractions and tour operators are fully operational, providing the widest range of experiences. For those interested in marine wildlife, particularly iceberg viewing and whale watching, July is often considered the peak month. Icebergs typically drift down 'Iceberg Alley' along the coast, and various species of whales are commonly seen feeding in the rich waters. This makes it a prime time for nature enthusiasts and those looking for unique photographic opportunities.Travellers seeking a quieter experience with fewer crowds might consider visiting in late spring (late May to early June) or early autumn (late September to early October). While some services may have reduced hours, the scenery remains stunning, and you can still enjoy hiking and wildlife viewing in a more peaceful setting.
