"I was looking forward to wonderful weekend away but the hotel just does not live up to its pictures, maybe it did 10 years ago. The hotel needs a serious refurb as well as the grounds of the hotel. The pool is definitely not this clean and blue as in the pictures anymore - it needs a paint job and a proper clean. The bed I slept in made such a noise when you moved, it was terrible. The carpets were so marked, it was gross. The whole experience staying at the hotel freaked me out and I wont be...
"Fantastic place to relax and wind down. The owner was fantastic, the food and service were excellent. I would definitely recommend the Shangri-la to anyone staying in Wilderness."
"On our way from Cape Town to the wonderful Pure Nature Lodge in Paterson we stopped twice at The Old Trading Post for one night stop-over. We really enjoyed it and on the way back to Cape Town it felt already like coming home :-) And the pizza dinner was really outstanding - really the best pizza we ever had!!!"
"Beautiful stay at the oakhurst farm cottages. Farm shop had lots of food choices for an easy meal or a braai. Lovely meal baskets and a wonderful facility with lots of different options and things to do. Would love to head back in the future!"

Loved Wilderness. One of the best beaches I have ever been to, great little independent shops and a fabulous selection of restaurants.

Wilderness is one of our favourite places, great for walking and a beautiful long sandy beach. Serendipity Resaurant run by one of South Africas top ten chefs, Lizelle Stolze is an experience not to be missed.
"Deon & Leane were incredible hosts. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt welcomed and spoiled. The staff was attentive to every detail imaginable, the room was spotless and extremely comfortable and the views are breathtaking. Very sad we only had one night, we are already planning our return trip. "
"This is one of our favorite half-way stops on our way down to Cape Town. Wildernis is a quant little town with world-class restaurants and The Wildernis Hotel is such a great place to stay. Lovely pool, padel, tennis and mini-golf facilities. Excellent breakfasts! And very, very friendly staff."
"Wonderful place, luxurious accommodations, wish we had more time to enjoy it. Right next to the beach the thunderous crashing of waves was magical. Rooms well appointed with lots of treats and drinks all included. "
"Brilliant find. Spacious modern spotless rooms with beautiful views in a garden setting. Friendly and helpful hosts. Great restaurants in easy walking distance."
"The ideal place to stay on the Garden Route as approximately halfway. However more importantly The Trading Place exudes a beautiful calm rustic charm, exemplifed by the host. The most delicious breakfast awaits you at a time of your choce, the bread is homemade. Highly recommended is their preordered pizza in the evening. The host is coincidentally the guide for the river trips, so has exceptional knowledge on the nature of the area. If all this attracts you if you are considering being based in the Wilderness area I would urge you to stay here."
