-10/10 rating, 194 review count over 9 yrs of OWNER-MANAGED hosting! We got this! Holding 10/10 is difficult enough. Keeping it there nearing 200 times takes work. 😊 And constant attention to details. And investment…. And it is rare to have 10/10 holding at such a high count of 194. That said it continues to be a true labour of love and we continue to be very happy to share our home away from home with people from all over the world.
-We take the word “luxury” very seriously. Please do read our reviews and study the many pictures and below “TOP 10” to see why no one has ever been disappointed or in disagreement that our place is indeed quite special. We use our place often and simply wanted it to feel like home. That demands the highest quality throughout. (though we have the same bed in our home in Squamish, we sleep better at our Whistler getaway!)
-Our penthouse is one of only 2 with this extra-large space in The Aspens. Prior to purchasing the penthouse, we owned a standard size 1 bedroom on the ground floor. When this Penthouse became available in 2017, we quickly jumped at the significant upgrade opportunity! 😀 Since then our labour of love and re-investments have been focused on taking a generous and special space and turning it into an exceptional place! The bar cannot be set higher and as such please go ahead and set your expectations very high. You will not be disappointed. More likely expectations will be exceeded as they have been with so many prior guests. Again, please refer to the reviews as guests tell it better than hosts…
PENTHOUSE TOP 10:
1. OWNER MANAGED. Available 24/7. (I’m also an enthusiastic on-call e-concierge before and during your stay!).
2. THE SPACE. Nearly 20% larger in floor space than nearly all other 1-bedrooms PLUS the 15’ cathedral ceiling makes the living room feel so much larger and comfortable. It is the largest in the Aspens. Also, with 2 balconies. The extra space is in the living room and bedroom exactly as it should be. (so much so that our living room and bedroom are both larger than all of the other 1-bedrooms but the majority of the 2-bedrooms as well –(in order to design the 2-bedrooms there is no room to expand living room or bedrooms. Not the case with our penthouse) standard 1bdrm=576sq ft. 2bdrm=785sq ft. Our Penthouse 700sq. ft).
3. THE KING BED. It figures prominently throughout our reviews!! It is a 16” memory foam with pillow top medium firmness high quality mattress. There is no compromise, and sleep tops the list. It is also protected with mattress protector, mattress cover and wrapped with the same high-quality sheets, duvets, pillows and linens as found in 5-star properties. So many outstanding comments on this bed. Ditto extra investment in the hardwood frame Canadian made sofa beds with memory foam mattresses. All highly worth the extra investment.
4. BEDROOM. Larger than nearly all other units including the 2-bedroom units. Room enough for an extra leather recliner and work desk. PLUS balcony.
5. A/C. Air Conditioning. 17,000btu split ducted system. Plenty of cooling capacity for the large space and high ceiling.
6. WIFI. 300Mbps internet. WIFI ! 😀 Gamers and streamers fear not! 2 SMART TVs
7. GEARDRYER. Installed November of last year (2024). We thought it would be a good addition but has turned into a HUGE hit!! Skiers/borders and bikers all LOVE that thing! (Made in Utah by outdoor enthusiasts FOR outdoor enthusiasts!)
8. KITCHEN. Extremely well-equipped kitchen including all clad and stainless pots, pans, baking trays, knife set, Keurig, KitchenAid appliances. All necessary bowls, kitchen and bbq utensils of all sorts needed to make and serve great meals. P.S. Read the reviews. 😊
9. HEATED TILE FLOORS. The kitchen and bathroom are tiled and both are heated. Plenty of thankful comments on that in the reviews too…!
10. BBQ. A high-quality Jackson Grill. Very well built with exceptional heat. It is the best bbq we have ever owned. From grilled vegetables to Florentine steak. Trust this grill with anything. Full spare tank also provided.
11. (ok make it top 13). LIVING ROOM SIZE, -SEATING. Very comfortably seat 5 adults. The penthouse’s larger square footage is put to great use in the living room which allows for 2 sofas and an additional leather recliner.
12. THERMOSTATIC SHOWER SYSTEM. Set the temp and have an easy stay! And deep full size soaker tub. Great for families with young children. 😀 Another valuable investment in comfort.
13. AUDIO/VISUAL/GAMES. 2 SMART TVs. 55” in the living room + 42” in the bedroom. Wii. Can’t find a movie on the streaming services?? -Samsung DVD player with 100+ classic movies.. Board games. If for whatever reason you are stuck inside and you don’t fancy the pool or hot tubs,….. -we’ve made certain you will not want for things to do while in our comfy penthouse.

-2 highest quality “Stylus” brand sofa beds with upgraded optional $$ memory foam mattresses because we don’t expect them to only be used by the kids…. And because “luxury” demands more than just the basics! They also have mattress protectors; mattress covers and comfy duvets. Same treatment as the king bed.
-new smart TVs and sound system, the start of the 2-3” solid maple live edge accenting…
2023:
-bathroom renovation. Floor to ceiling tiles, heated floor, thermostatic shower system, new fixtures.
2024:
-paint top to bottom, new carpeting, replaced the entry closet with the gear area and installation of a GearDryer (one of the best ideas of all the improvements!)
2025 NEW!:
-kitchen renovation and matching custom cabinets for the bedroom.

SKI-IN SKI-OUT. -SHARING…. 😉
Sharing what locals and Whistler veterans already know:
Unfortunately some property managers and hotels are very liberal with the use of the term ski-in ski-out. It is truly unfortunate there is no ski-in ski-out vetting on booking sites 😞…. In short if you cannot put your skis/boards on at the property and ski/board to the lift it AIN’T ski out. Similarly if you cannot ski to the border of the property it’s not ski-in either. The Aspens is approximately 75 yards/meters uphill from the Blackcomb Gondola in the Upper Village.
Here is a short list of those who claim to be but are NOT: Fairmont (our immediate neighbor downhill. Ski in yes. Ski out NO. Four Seasons (my true competitor which is a few hundred yards from the gondola), Westin, Hilton, Pan Pacific, Glacier, Chamois, Marquis, Woods, Powderhorn, all of the properties in the main village, the list of wannabees is unfortunately very long…. With some you have to walk a hundred yards/meters or more walk while hauling your gear to and from the property and the lifts yet they label their properties! If you want that true resort ski-in ski-out experience the list for Whistler is very short and The Aspens is near or at the top of the list! All of which is to caution -Don't learn the hard way while you are walking to and from the lifts with the kids and all your gear. You pay a premium for ski-in ski-out therefore it’s worth making certain you are getting what you paid for. The Aspens is simply the envy of the also-rans.
"THE ASPENS BUILDING DETAILS/AMENITIES":
-FREE Ski valet. 07:30-18:00 daily during ski season
-24/7 front desk. They also sell basic groceries such as milk, cereal, muffins, coffee, cream, frozen pizza and ice cream, pasta, sauce, toiletries and a host of other items.
-Pool towels. At front desk.
-Pool. One of the largest in Whistler and West facing means full sun all day long. Surrounding the pool in summer are large cantilevered umbrellas, lounge and sitting chairs. Pool is kept at a comfortable temperature year round.
-3 hot tubs one of which is only 20 feet from the ski run. You can quite literally talk to skiers and boarders from sitting in the hot tub.
-Bike storage room. Gated and video monitored. A code will be provided for access.
-LOCATION! LOCATION!, LOCATION!!
The Aspens is one of the very best locations in Whistler. A true ski-in ski-OUT(!) slopeside gem on Blackcomb in the Upper Village. Ski to our slopeside gate, leave your skis at the valet and head up to your spacious penthouse in a total of 3 minutes... (You cannot beat that time at the Fairmont next door nor at the Four Seasons behind them ;) ). Upper Village shops and restaurants, the gondola, guest services, Merlin's!!, -all a few minutes walk. Or a 5 second ski.
In closing it is easy for owners to overstate their space but if they do they will not maintain such high ratings over such a long period of time -9yrs. and counting...! We prefer to encourage all prospective guests to read our fantastic reviews. Nowhere will you find disappointment and we will work hard to ensure your review is another 10/10!
