Kite flying at the seaside is an activity all the family can get involved in. If it's windy, why not try launching one at South Beach? There's a fabulous range of things to keep you busy in this destination. Soaring high into the skyline, Memorial Tower is tough to miss. Stand at the bottom, cast your eyes up and admire this grand old structure. Still got some time to spare? Even on a damp day, it's worth going for a stroll through Moutoa Gardens. Pop up your umbrella and breathe in the fresh earthy smell.
While Whanganui does have around 25 properties to choose from, it's always wise to secure a room early. Not sure where to start? Expedia is here to help with your next cheap holiday or luxury getaway.
After an exhausting flight, there's nothing quite like putting your feet up in a fancy room and indulging in some room service. See what heavenly treats are waiting for you at the Aotea Motor Lodge (390 Victoria Avenue) or the 151 on London Motel (151 London Street). Would you rather somewhere cheap and cheerful? Have a look at the Hikurangi Stayplace - Hostel (1 Mount View Road) and the Tamara Riverside Lodge - Hostel/Backpacker (24 Somme Parade).
If you're arriving by plane, you'll likely be touching down at Whanganui Airport (WAG). Once you've grabbed your suitcases from baggage claim and headed outside, the main streets of Whanganui will be 5 miles away.

Great location and awesome on-site pub. Rooms are a bit tired, but very comfortable. In-room kettle could use a good clean, but overall, a very pleasant stay. Great service at the pub - I highly recommend dinner and/or drinks there if you stay.
One of the VERY few place we have visited that have really thought about the room and functionality. really nice place to stay, mostly sound proof walls, could barely hear the baby crying next door, comfy bed, more than usual in the way of appliances, heating/cooling and kitchen equipment. plus REAL ...
I stayed overnight with my mother & sister in a 2 room apartment with kitchette. The manager did not charge for use of the washing machine, which we really appreciated.
